Press release from Kenneth Hansen Motorsport
Sweden, Götene – 2011-12-29
Hansen
coaches the new generation
Kenneth Hansen, multiple rallycross champion and
nowadays manager of his own team Hansen Motorsport, has
signed two interesting drivers for SuperCar in the
European Rallycross Championship. One of them is already
for 2012 a strong competitor for the ERC-gold and the
other one has the ambition of reaching there in an early
future.
The first one is the Russian Timur Timerzyanov
(24), who was third in the ERC this year, has shown a rare
potential for being Champion.
The other one is the Norweigian Alexander Hvaal. He
is only 19 years and has a promising future ahead.
- It will be interesting to see how we can help these
young guns, Kenneth Hansen says. I am convinced they will
complement each other in a creative way.
Timur Timerzyanov will drive the new Citroen DS3, which
Kenneth himself tested a couple of times last season with
two second places as result. The DS3 is built on o new
concept compared to earlier cars.
- After all my years as a top-level sportsman I know how
difficult it is to win even if everything looks right on
the paper, Timur says, but I believe much in this team and
if we can continue to have a high level this can take me
far.
Hopefully farthest.
Alexander will have a Citroen C4. It will suit him well as
it is reliable and strong.
- I am very happy to get this chance with Hansen
Motorsport, Alexander smiles. I am curious and can hardly
wait to get started with the testing.
Another exciting news at Hansen Motorsport is Kevin
Hansen. Kevin is the 13 year old son of Kenneth and Susann,
who has changed from karting to rallycross.
Kevin, who despite a successful career in karting, he
choose to move to rallycross for next year.
- I have always liked rallycross and thinks it’s supercool,
Kevin says. So when I got the opportunity the choice was
simple. The Swedish ASN has promised me a dispensation
making me able to begin the first race in the British
Championship in the Suzuki Swift cup.
And for the summer I hope to take a place on the European
Rallycross scence in the all new junior category, JRX.

- I am very honoured to be among the top three drivers,
Kenneth Hansen says about the results.
- First I was happy only to have reached the 10 drivers
for the final voting and getting third place in this
company is just amazing. Ronnie has been a driver that I
have always looked up to during my whole career, so I had
him as my winner as well. Now I will celebrate this
fantastic third place together with my family and friends.
The voting started in August and
finished in the afternoon of the Swedish ASN 75 years
jubilee on November 26.
To mark the 75 year jubilee a gala took place at the
famous Blue Hall in the City Hall of Stockholm (the same
place as the Nobel price giving gala). With 720 guests and
a nice dinner with entertainment it was an evening to
remeber.
Timmy Hansen was, as a representative for the future of
Swedish motorsport, interview on stage regarding his
thought about the importance of roll models, what the
Swedish ASN is doing for young people in the sport, and
what the FIA Institute Young Driver Excellence Academy has
meant for his education and his personal development as a
driver.

Ups and downs for Hansen Motorsport in Czechia
Ceska Lipa, Czech Republic
Hansen Motorsport met both good and bad times as the
season ended in the Czech Republic.
Kenneth Hansen was back behind the steering wheel of the
team’s new Citroen DS3 and made an astonishing drive to
take second place in the A-final behind Sverre Isachsen.
- I’m happy to get second place as it shows we have a
great potential in the new car, Kenneth says. The Citroen
DS3 will be a strong weapon for your drivers next year. I
enjoyed every meter in the car being so smooth and
responsive.
Timur Timerzyanov was fighting for second place in the
Championship and did everything right in the
qualifications putting himself on the front row in the
A-final. The final turned out a disappointment for Timur.
First he was pushed wide in the first corner. Then he was
having a moment with Tanner Foust who did a reckless move
forcing Timur off the track. A deliberate move which saw
Foust taking third place away from Timerzyanov.
- First I must say I am proud and satisfied with the
season as a whole, Timur reflects on his first year in
SuperCars. I did not expect a podium place in the
Championship when I began the season back in April.
- On the result today I must say I am more disappointed of
the stewards lack of judgment than I am on the race
itself.
The final overall standings of the SuperCars will be
finished on November 4 after the FIA Court of Appeal has
settled the appeal involving Tanner Fousts actions in
Holland in August.
Liam Doran was really making some brilliant driving and
had a A-final place available, but luck turned against
him. He rolled his car heavily and that was the end to a
possible good day. Liam was unhurt but of course both
shaken and sore after the massive impact.
Johan Larsson in the Super1600 was in the frame for the
third place overall. A second place in the timed
qualification looked promising for Johan and he was making
a strong drive in the heats. Second place in the B-final
finished his hopes and Johan lost his bronze medal with
only two points.
- It feels hard right know, Johan says, but looking at
earlier races there have been many small things not going
my way so all together it was a pretty good season where I
have developed and grown as a driver.

Kenneth Hansen tillbaka bakom ratten i EM-finalen
i konkurrensen inför 2012.
Super1600-klassen.

Motorsport in FIA European Rallycross Championship
Larsson shines in Poland
Poland,
Slomczyn
For the first time this year Kenneth Hansen Motorsport
gained its best result in the Super1600 championship where
Johan Larsson finished fourth in the team's Citroen C2, equalling his best result to date and tightening his claim
on third place in the championship. In the Supercar
category, Timur Timerzyanov finished seventh, with Liam
Doran in 11th place.
For Larsson this was clearly the best weekend of the year so far and the continued development of the C2 brought another improvement in speed. "We are working on the car all the time, trying small changes to make it faster. In the third heat at last weekend's race in Austria we found something that has made a big difference to the starts and that is very important. Now that is going better, I can lead a race instead of fighting for places, then the times come," said Larsson who qualified third on the A final grid after setting fastest time in the third qualifying heat, and with fifth fastest time in both the first and second heats. "It was going really well here and I was second in the A final until the fourth lap when I got a puncture. I'm so disappointed. Fourth place was good but I could have been second and I really wanted that. I'm focused now on getting third place in the championship and the result here has helped that," said Larsson.
Team boss Kenneth Hansen congratulated Larsson, but admitted the results in the Supercar class were not quite what he had hoped for. "Johan has done a good job here and I'm pleased for him to get a strong result. This is a very unusual track and it's very hard to get a setup that works all the time. We had good speed in both of the Supercars most of the weekend so I'm pleased with that but I hoped that at least one of them would have been in the A final so the final result is a little disappointing," said Hansen.
Timerzyanov and Doran qualified seventh and eighth for the finals, Timerzyanov non-finishing in the third heat after a driveshaft broke but placing fourth and sixth in the first two heats. Doran was eighth in the first and second heat, improving to set third fastest time in the third heat. Timerzyanov was leading the B-final in the last lap with Liam Doran on second place, but the race win eventually passing to American Tanner Foust. Timerzyanov is already looking ahead to the final round of the series, "I still have second place in the championship and I want to keep that place at the end of the year. I'm working well with the team and the car and I know that sometimes in racing it does not always go exactly how you expect," he said.

Motorsport in FIA European Rallycross Championship
Timerzyanov second as
Citroën trio battle in Austria
Austria, Greinbach
Timur Timerzyanov delivered a fighting drive to second place in the eighth round of the FIA European Rallycross Championship at Greinbach in Austria, the Russian driver strengthening his grip on second place in the title race. While Timerzyanov made his way to the podium his Kenneth Hansen Motorsport Citroën team mates Liam Doran (ninth) and Johan Larsson (seventh in Super1600) also scored championship points.
Timerzyanov made his way to the Supercar A final having won the B final. Ninth in the first heat on Saturday afternoon, Timerzyanov was fourth and fifth fastest in Sunday's remaining heats. "I had a problem with the sensor for the engine temperature in the third heat and that meant it went into a kind of 'safe' mode. The car lost about 60bhp so it was very different to drive but actually it taught me something new, different lines to keep up the speed and I used that again in the B final," explained Timerzyanov who earned his A final start with the race victory. In the A final, Timerzyanov again delivered a fine drive, battling his way up to second place. "When I was in the A final I knew the worst that could happen was sixth place so I went for it. The track was quite bumpy but I still had the fastest lap time and except for a mistake in the third lap I would have been closer to the winner," he said.
Like his team mate, Doran also had leading pace, but his event was seriously compromised after an incident in the first heat left him out of the race. "It shows how quickly things change in this sport and how difficult it is to get back into the event, specially on a track like this, I was never able to make up for what I lost, or what was taken from me, on Saturday," said Doran, "We were right there in the warm-up on Sunday morning, but the track here changes a lot as the heat progresses and in the second heat the lap times were a second off what we'd done in the warm-up: when there's no grip there is nothing you can do except driver more slowly."
Ending the qualifying heats in 11th place, Doran won the C final and progressed to the B final. "From the back of the grid I knew there was only one thing to do – try the outside line in the first corner and see what happens," said Doran who ran alongside the leaders entering the turn but then got eased out, "I was nearly there and if had worked I know I could have won the race because my lap times were the same or better than Timur's all weekend. But, as usual, there was a little push and I lost time by getting out onto the grass. To be honest I lost interested a bit then and decided to entertain the crowd a bit - I think I have some new fans!" said Doran.
Larsson was also in fight back mode on Sunday after his Super1600 Citroën C2 suffered handling problems on Saturday. "We tried some new things in the car here and not everything worked. Most of all we had problems with the anti-roll bar on Saturday so we worked hard overnight to change the setup in the car and everything was much better on Sunday," said Larsson who, for the first time this year, was fastest in a heat. "The third heat was good, almost perfect and we had fastest time there, it was just a little bit too late and without the problems in the first day I think I could have been in the A final. But it's looking good for third place in the championship and I'm concentrating on that now," he said.
All three drivers are looking forward to next weekend's ninth round of the championship at the Slomczyn circuit just south of Warsaw in Poland. Doran won the Polish event last year and Timerzyanov has also won on the track, "I like the track in Poland a lot, there is not much grip but I like that so I know it will be a good event for me there too," said Timerzyanov.

Motorsport in FIA European Rallycross Championship
Positives
for Hansen in tough Dutch event
At the end of an event in which no-one had an easy run as mixed weather conditions made the Dutch round of the European Rallycross Championship one of the most challenging and testing of recent years, and certainly the hardest event this season, Kenneth Hansen Motorsport was able to draw positives on the speed of its drivers, even though the final results were not quite what had been expected.
"It's been one of those weekends," said team boss Kenneth
Hansen, "All three drivers were quick in both the wet and
dry, and I'm especially pleased with our speed in the wet
conditions because we didn't have that with all of the
cars all of the time before. But sometimes in motor sport
the speed doesn't translate to results and this was one of
those, small things turned everything round."
The team's
Supercar racers, Timur Timerzyanov and Liam Doran ended
the event in 11th and 15th places. Timerzyanov was unable
to start the B final after a crash in the third qualifying
heat.
"The crash was not the problem. The problem was that I hit
a curb very hard and that broke a mounting bolt. Then the
subframe [holding the front suspension and engine] broke
and I went off the track," said Timerzyanov, "There was
not enough time to fix it before the final so I could not
go to the start. Before that my results were good and even
from the B final there was a good chance to win and be in
the A final."
Doran also had
an off in the heats, the Englishman non-finishing the
second heat. He recovered from this to qualify for the C
final which he led from the start until the last lap. "The
engineers have not been able to get a good look at the car
yet so I don't know exactly what happened but it looks as
though something in the suspension broke and allowed the
right front wheel to move around. Eventually that caused
the driveshaft to pull out of its joint," said Doran who
was then unable to steer the car properly.
"I couldn't get round the corner and the rest just went
past me. The car felt so good at the start of the race
that I am sure I could get up to the front of the B final
too and probably made it to the A final. I'm disappointed
with that but on the whole it's not terrible and having
the speed we had in the wet is a real positive."
Racing in the Super1600 class, Johan Larsson finished ninth and again improved his championship position, the Citroën C2 driver now third in the series. Larsson qualified for the C final, which he won comfortably to get into the B final. "The C final was no problem at all, everything went well and I won that. Then at the start of the B final the car was creeping forward and I was afraid that it would be a jump start so I had to dip the clutch and then the lights came on and I had a bad start," said Larsson. "I hoped for better than ninth place, but it's a little strange the way the championship is going and I am up to third place now, so that's a good thing. I know that I am fast enough to be in the A final, I just need a little bit of luck."
There is a now a three-week break before the next event in the championship which takes place at Greinbach in Austria, a track that will be new to all three Kenneth Hansen Motorsport drivers, but at which they will all, again, be able to draw on the experience and knowledge of the team.

Belgium, Maasmechelen
Timur Timerzyanov wins and Liam Doran is third for
Hansen Motorsport in Belgium
Kenneth Hansen Motorsport celebrated its most successful performance of the year so far in the European Rallycross Championship when it took first and third places in the Belgian round of the series at Maasmechelen on Sunday (August 7).
Timur Timerzyanov won the event, regaining the lead of the championship and becoming the first Russian driver ever to win an event outright. The team's second Supercar Citroën C4 came home in third place in the hands of Englishman Liam Doran. "I'm very happy with the result,' said team boss Kenneth Hansen, "Both drivers drove brilliantly, they respected each other and understood the need to take a long view and get results that are good for the championship – I'm proud to have these two drivers in my cars. Liam got everything together today after a bit of bad luck in the first day of the event and Timur was very good under pressure. It's a very good result and gives everyone confidence before the next round of the championship in Holland next week."
Doran and Timerzyanov shared the front row of the A final grid, Timerzyanov having been fastest in saturday's first heat with Doran then setting the pace to be fastest in the second qualifying heat. The Englishman pipped his team mate to pole in the third heat but at the start of the final it was the Russian's C4 that edged ahead
"We were level at the start and then I got a bit of wheelspin and Timur just edged ahead. If it had been anyone else I would not have backed off but when it's your team mate there has to be a bit of respect, so I let him have the line into the first corner," said Doran who then took his Joker Lap early. "I went straight into the Joker but got stuck behind Andy Scott for two laps and that cost me the chance to win, without that I think it would have been me and Timur at the end." As it was, the delay allowed Frode Holte to split the Citroën pair and take second place.
Having edged ahead in the first corner, Timerzyanov led the race throughout but had a scare in the last lap. "It was completely under control. I got the lead and then I was as careful as possible, quick but clean. The only problem was at the end, I went as fast as I could into the Joker Lap but the car jumped a bit and got a puncture on the right rear. I felt that there was a problem and was very careful in the last half lap, braking harder and keeping the inside line," said Timerzyanov who was almost speechless with joy when the race ended, "It's fantastic to win a race in my first year racing a Supercar, more than I expected. I'm the first Russian winner and I'm leading the championship again so this is some kind of perfect day!"
The team's third car in the championship is raced by Johan Larsson in the Super1600 class. The young Swede had a mixed event with his Citroën C2, the weekend getting off to a bad start after a mix up in the timed practice session. "It rained in timed practice and some drivers changed to wet tyres but there was a lot of confusion. Then the officials said that I was late going to the grid and gave me, and a lot of others, a three-second penalty. I don't know if that was right or not, but it really changed my race," said Larsson who qualified ninth after the three heats and started in the B final.
"I hoped for more than a B final but it's not so bad and for the championship it's actually okay because several of the other drivers also had the same kind of problems today. The full-throttle gear shift broke in the final and I had to change my driving a bit because of that. We finished eighth, scored points and had good speed in the car so I'm focusing on that before we go to Holand next week," said Larsson.

X Games 17 at Los Angeles, USA
Doran retired from the
lead of X Games Rallycross
It was close that Liam Doran could follow up the victory
of X Games 17 Rally from yesterday with yet another gold
medal in X Games Rallycross. The Hansen-driver was
unfortunately forced to retire from what look like a safe
lead after an incident with Tanner Foust.
- It was hard, team manager Kenneth Hansen says with a
sigh.
- Liam has been stronger than ever here at X Games and he
hand the victory in his hand when he had a punsch and flew
off the track.
The American Tanner Foust, on the inside of Doran, missed
his braking point when entering first corner, he went
straight into Doran and with that made him go off and into
the wall on the fast city circuit of Los Angeles. His
Monster Citroen C4 was no longer drivable and he was out
of the game.
- We take all the positive things with us from this race,
Kenneth Hansen says. The gold medal from X Games Rally,
Liams and the teams strength, which has grown all the time
through the weekend, and the power of succeeding with the
event even if it was our first visit here.
Now the team has loaded the Monster Citroen C4 onto the
airplane to take it back to Europe. Next weekend it is the
seventh round of the FIA European Rallycross Chmapionship
in Belgium. Then Doran and Foust meet again.

Liam Doran and Hansen Motorsport gold medallists in X
Games
Hansen Motorsports driver Liam Doran won X Games 17 Rally
and took the gold medal after a strong performance in the
final where we beat ex-world rally champion Markus Grönholm.
- An amazing victory, Kenneth Hansen laughs, now team
manager. I am so happy and proud over that we as a new team
in X Games can manage to win already at our first attempt.
The Swedish team got off with a good beginning of X Games by
being quickest during free practice. Liam, who drives a
Hansen Motorsport prepared Monster Citroen C4, faced
problems on timed qualification and was forced to go the
long was through the elimination heats. In the semi-final he
won over Tanner Foust, the European Rallycross Championship
leader. In the final Liam was up against the Finn Marcus
Grönholm. Best out of three heats Liam went on to take two
victories in a row and was crowned winner of X Games 17
Rally.
- Liam has really done some fantastic driving today, race
strategy was perfect and the team has worked concentrated
without mistakes, Kenneth Hansen comments.
Doran was quick off the mark and had a few meters on
Grönholm already in the start. The jokerlap was the trumf
card for the young Englishman, who with a smart tactic
jinked away Grönholms chances. With a faultless drive Liam
Doran took the chequer flag first.
Tomorrow, Sunday (am.time), rallycross is on the programme,
which should suit Doran and the Hansen Team well.
- Yes, it should be better for us, but at the same time
nothing can be taken for granted, Hansen says, knowing that
no success gives any advantages in the next race. We
continue to work in the same way as always, one thing at a
time. We have a great driver, a fast car and a tight team,
so now we wait and see where it can get us.
Liam will have a strong competition from the American
superstars Travis Pastrana, Ken Block and Tanner Foust, but
also Michael Jernberg will be on the starting line.

Liam Doran and Hansen
Motorsport wins XGames Super Rally
The Hansen Motorsport driver Liam Doran did an
excellent job at X-Games 17 in his Hansen-prepared Citroen
C4 and went on to beat them all and take the victory after a
stunning final between him and the Finn, World Rally
Champion, Marcus Grönholm.
X-Games got off to a good beginning for the Swedish team and
its English driver by being fastest during free practice.
- Unfortunately a steering arm broke during the time
qualification and Liam had a really bad time, Kenneth Hanse,
team manager, explains.
- But we fixed it for the first heat and Liam, who has been
blooming in his driving this weekend, handled the situation
well, and went on to win elimination heat after elimination
heat moving forward in the results.
Liam met European Rallycross Championship leader Tanner
Foust in the semi-final and managed to beat him on home
ground.
In the final, Liam was ready to met Marcus Grönholm, who had
won over Toomas Heikinen in the second semi-final.
Liam had a brilliant start in the final heat and controlled
the race from start to finish with a faultless drive and
calm approch to the task ahead of him. Liam took the chequed
flag first and won the X-Games 17 Super Rally cathegory.
A happy and proud Kenneth
Hansen commented the victory:
- To win a race of this caliber at the teams first attempt
is something that makes even me realize that the guys in
this team is something extraordinary! I am very honoured to
lead this team and to make Liams dream of winning XGames
come true. And Liam has been amazing. I have never seen him
drive so well, confident and clean. Liam is the star of the
team today!
Tomorrow, July 31, is time for
the rallycross cathegory of X-Games. Again Liam will be put
up against fantastic drivers, such as Ken Block, Travis
Pastrana, Marcus Grönholm, Tanner Foust and Dave Mirra.

Kenneth Hansen stars with new car
in Sweden
In his first appearance as a Rallycross driver since last September and in the first event for his new Citroën DS3 Supercar, Kenneth Hansen climbed onto the podium and finished second in the Swedish round of the FIA European Rallycross Championship at Höljes.
- It feels like a victory, Kenneth Hansen smiles and look
at his team. What we did today was unbelievable.
The A-final was a big drama. Sverre Isachsen (N) on pole
position with the American Tanner Foust beside him.
Kenneth started at the back after winning the B-final. In
the first attempt Andreas Eriksson rolled his car badly,
causing the final to be red flagged.
Ludvig Hunsbedt (N) couldn’t make it for the restart and
the Finn Toomas Heikinen had difficulties getting off the
start line. Isachsen flew away in the lead followed by
Tanner and Hansen. Tanner was on the move and when Sverre
had a puncture Tanner was the one leading the race.
Kenneth closed the gap to Sverre and in the very last
corner he was able to overtake and grab second place.
Heikinen did the same and finished third, leavning
Isachsen on fourth place.
Hansen's return to the driving seat meant that Kenneth
Hansen Motorsport had four cars in the biggest and most
competitive event of the championship season. Hansen was
the team's most successful driver of the weekend, which
was not quite what he expected having arrived at the event
with a minimum of testing on his new DS3.
- The concept of the Citroën DS3 is completely different
from anything we have done before and with so little
experience of the car, I had no great hopes for this
weekend, it was really about being here with the new car
and using the race as a test, said Hansen.
The team's two Citroën C4 Supercar racers, Liam Doran and
Timur Timerzyanov had mixed fortunes, Doran ending the
event in tenth place and Timeryanov 16th.
-The first heat was bad so I
was under pressure on Sunday,"said Doran
- And I made a bad mistake by forgetting to take the Joker
Lap. After that it was all over really, I was third
fastest in the third heat but that only got me on the back
of the B final. Not doing the Joker Lap was my fault and
it was a big mistake; if I'd taken it I'd have been in the
A final and that was anyone's race so it could have been a
completely different day. The only good thing is that I
was fast, the lap times were there all day so I've got
that confidence to take to the X Games in a few weeks.
Doran's next event, the next
time Hansen Motorsport will be in action, is the X Games
in Los Angeles at the end of July.
- X Games is a big deal for me and the team. Colin McRae
was the only other British driver ever to do it so it's a
huge thing for me and a major world wide event for Monster
Energy, Citroën and KHM.
Timerzyanov entered the
event leading the championship but also had a tough run,
including contact from another competitor that forced him
to retire from his third heat. Needing to be in the A
final in order to improve his championship score,
Timerzyanov pulled out of the C final in the second lap.
- Timur had a problem in the C final and made a good
decision to stop, there was no way he could gain anything
from that position. It was a difficult event for him, but
that's how it goes in racing sometimes, said Hansen.
Hansen Motorsport's representative in the Super1600 class,
Johan Larsson had a solid run through the qualifying heats
and made it straight into the A final
- I love this track and I was determined to end the first
half of the year with a good result, said Larsson.
- I felt that I could have been in the top three but in
the last two laps of the race the engine was overheating
so I had reduce my speed a little. I think I was careful
enough to keep the engine safe and fourth place is equal
to my best finish this year (in Portugal) so I'm quite
happy with that.
Next event of the FIA European Rallycross Championship is
Belgium on August 5-7.

Kenneth Hansen back in the drivers seat
Kenneth Hansen, 14-times European Champion in rallycross,
is back in the drivers seat.
In a brand
new Citroën DS3 Kenneth will do the Swedish round of the
ERC in Höljes this weekend.
- I have worked with the project for almost two years and
therefore I thought I was worth to drive the first race,
Kenneth says expectantly.
- This is without doubt the best car we have ever built
during the twenty years we have worked with Citroën. This
is his future.
For this season Hansen choose to let go of the steering
wheel and instead turn his focus on being a team boss. The
Hansen Motorsport-team, which Kenneth is managing, has two
young drivers, the Russian Timur Timerzyanov and the
Englishman Liam Doran. Hansen is not only a good driver
but also seems to have a talent for mentoring others.
Timur Timerzyanov is leading the ERC SuperCar and Liam
Doran is sixth.
To
manage a team with two cars in the main class, SuperCar,
is hard work. Timur is the only driver this season that
has been in all A-finals.
Parallell with the race team Hansen Motorsport has
together with the French companies MTechnologies, Oreca
and Sadev developed the new Citroen DS3 for rallycross.
- I have already had the toughest race, Kenneth Hansen
comments concerning the tight time schedule to be able to
make it for Höljes.
- Now only the fun part remains, to experience the feeling
to have it in my hands when I let loose the power and
potential in it.

Norway, Trondheim, 2011-06-26
Hansen driver Timerzyanov third in Norway and leads the
Championship
The fourth round of the FIA European Championships for
Rallycross Drivers brought further success for the Citroën
drivers at
Kenneth Hansen Motorsport, Russian Timur Timerzyanov
battling his way through to third place via victory in the B
final.
The only driver to have placed in the A final in all four
rounds to date, the podium finish gives Timerzyanov the
championship
points lead, the first Russian driver ever to lead the
series.
In what is developing into one of most competitive and
closely fought championships of recent years, Hansen now has
two
drivers in the top six of the Supercar championship while
Super1600 runner Johan Larsson put in a strong
performance
with his Citroën C2, placing fifth in the A final.
The fourth round of the championship, run on the Lånkebanen
near the village of Hell in central Norway, presented a new
challenge for almost all competitors in the championship,
this being the first time it had hosted a European
championship event.
Problems in the first day of the event left British driver
Liam Doran on the back foot.
- It's one of those weekends that I don't want to have
again. I had a bad first day and that put the pressure on,
then I made a
small mistake in the second heat on Sunday morning and that
really hurt my chances, said Doran
- I won the C final and I'm happy with my pace in the event
in the B final things didn't work out and that was the end
of the
road. I've worked hard in the last few weeks to drive more
smoothly and that was good here, but I need to get a little
more
aggression into that style now. I wanted to do better here
but ninth place is not a disaster and I'm still in the top
six of the
championship – but I need to pull something out of the bag
next week.
While Doran's run ended in the B final, Timerzyanov's
fortune turned around in that race, the Russian winning and
going into
the A final. The American Tanner Foust had a crash that
stopped the race, Timerzyanov made a decisive move in the
restart.
- My second start was not perfect and I saw Mats Lysen going
into the Joker and rest staying on the main track so I
followed
Mats and then had some really good laps, said Timerzyanov
- I might have been closer to [second placed] Sverre
Isachsen at the end, but there was a big hole in the gravel
section and
I hit that one lap, it was nearly a crash so I was lucky to
finish without damage to the car. I did not expect to be
leading the
championship, this is supposed to be a learning year for me,
so this is a very good day.
Larsson's fifth place in the Norwegian event brought the
Swedish driver up from seventh to fourth place in the
Super1600
championship, the Citroën C2 driver doing a solid job and
bringing himself back into the leading championship places
ahead
of his home round of the championship in Sweden next weekend
(July 1-3).
The Swedish event, at Höljes, will see the Kenneth Hansen
Motorsport team grow to four cars as team boss Kenneth
Hansen
gives his new Citroën DS3 Supercar its debut. "We have the
last few jobs to finish on the new car and the plan is to
test on
Wednesday and then go to Höljes for the press day on
Thursday. If looks are anything to go by the car will be
very good, I
think it's the best we have ever built," said Hansen who has
not raced since the final round of the 2010 championship
last September.

Hansen
Motorsport drivers in the A final again
Kenneth
Hansen Motorsport got both of its Supercar drivers into the
A final for the third time in three events, Englishman Liam
Doran going on to reach third place in the third round of
the FIA European Championships for Rallycross Drivers at
Essay in France on Sunday (May 22).
Doran's Russian team mate, Timur Timerzyanov, placed fifth
in the A final.
"Liam had a good run in the A final and third place is very
good for his championship, Timur was not quite so lucky but
I'm happy that both of them have been fast in all of the
first three events this year. The way the championship is
developing, with a different winner at each round so far,
means this could be a tough year, but also one where
consistent points scoring is very important," said Kenneth
Hansen.
After
experiencing some engine problems in the Portuguese event
last weekend, Kenneth Hansen Motorsport better setup for the French
event:
"We
changed our plans to make time for the testing but it paid
off here. I think we will need to continue to work very hard
this year to maintain the speed and reliability in the cars
though because it looks like being a very hard year," Hansen
said.
Doran's third place is his best of the year to date and he
was positive after the A final.
"I was second for most of the race but lost the place when I
took my Joker Lap in the last lap. I was concentrating on
running the safest strategy and bringing the car home in one
piece and third place is good for my championship, it means
I move up to second place which is great for me, for Monster
and the team," said the Englishman.
Timur
Timerzyanov again brought his Citroën C4 into the A final,
the Russian showing great speed in his first Supercar season.
"Saturday was a very good day for me, I led the event after
the first qualifying heat and that was very good. It did not
go quite so well for me on Sunday but I was in the A final
again and this is better than I had hoped or expected at the
start of the year," said the Russian racer.
Hansen Motorsport's driver in the Super1600 class, Johan
Larsson was 14th of the 42 starters in the class, but on a
day when the class was swollen by an influx of French
drivers, Larsson was sixth among the regular championship
runners and team boss Kenneth Hansen was able to look back
on a successful weekend.
"France is always a tough event because there are so many
very good French cars and drivers, and this track at Essay
is specially hard because it can be tricky to learn and to
get fast laps so I'm happy that we had good speed and that
we got both of the Supercars into the A final – that's a
real team achievement.
The Super1600 class was incredibly tough in France and Johan
Larsson not only had a greatly increaed level of competition
to deal with, but high engine temperatures in his Citroën C2
during the hot first day of the event. "The way that the
exhaust runs in the engine bay of the C2 means that it is
always a bit difficult in hot weather, but we managed to
cope with that quite well on Saturday and had good speed in
the car," said Larsson. Hansen was pleased with Larsson's
form in what was a tough event.
"Johan had some small incidents and was not really his weekend, but I think that the Super1600 class was probably even harder than the Supercar class here and it's just a fact that there were a very large number of very fast cars," he said.
The
championship now moves to Scandinavia for rounds four and
five which takes place in Norway, Lånke, on June 24-26 and
Sweden, Höljes, on July 1-3.

Hansen-drivers stars in the points in Portugal

Hansen Motorsport Citroën drivers finished third and fifth
in the second round of the FIA European Championships for
Rallycross Drivers at Montalegre in Portugal on Sunday (May
15), Russian Timur Timerzyanov making it to the podium in
only his second event with the Swedish team.
Competing in the Super1600 class of the championship, Johan
Larsson, placed fourth in his Citroën C2.
The event was a busy one for Hansen Motorsport, starting with the unveiling of Liam Doran's Citroën C4 Supercar in the distinctive black and green livery of new sponsor Monster Energy. The team and its English driver sprung a surprise on its rivals and the assembled press at Montalegre by scrutineering the C4 in its usual red on Friday and then changing the colour scheme overnight before presenting the car to the media just before the first practice session.
Timeryanov and Doran then raced closely in the qualifying
heats, the two pair sharing the second row of the grid for
the A final. While Timerzyanov followed race leader Tanner
Foust through the first corner, Doran took the Joker Lap
immediately after the start of the race; the two Citroën
drivers running different race strategies. Timerzyanov ran
close to Foust for most of the race distance, but found it a
frustrating experience:
"He braked very early in the first corner and I hit the
barrier there. After that, there were parts of the track
where I was faster but he was very defensive and it was not
easy to drive behind him like that," said Timerzyanov who
later had a collision with Doran.
"When I came out of the Joker Lap Liam and I hit each other.
It was unfortunate because we both got some damage, the
steering of my car was bent but I was able to continue to
the end."
Doran's early Joker Lap and some fast laps after that left
him in a position to challenge the lead pair as they took
the Joker Lap in the fourth lap.
"Foust just got out in front of me but I thought I would be
in front of Timur," said Doran whose car suffered suspension
damage, "I'm sure I could have been second, perhaps even
have won the race so it's a disappointing end to the event."
Team boss Kenneth Hansen was philosophical about the outcome. "It would be better if my drivers were not fighting each other, but they are both quick and very competitive so it will happen sometimes. Part of my job is to smooth this kind of stuff out and try to make sure it does not happen again.
"I'm pleased that both cars were in the A final, we worked very hard here because of a lack of power in the engines. Both cars had it, but Liam's was a little worse than Timur's. The engineers have some ideas now about that and they'll try some changes before the French event next weekend." said Hansen.
Larsson had a good event in the Super1600 class, qualifying
second for the A final, but being a little disappointed by
the outcome of the final. "No, I'm not really happy with how
the final went, I had expected to be on the podium," said
Larsson who had to contend with an overheating engine for
the last half of the race, "I had a good start to the final
and did my Joker Lap early, but the water temperature was
over 100 by the third lap and I had to keep a close eye on
that. I wasn't focused enough on defending my place and I
lost third because of that. I don't think it's a big problem
with the engine and we've made good progress with the car
again this weekend so I'm looking forward to next weekend in
France because I like the track and was in the A final when
we raced there two years ago."
The championship continues in France next weekend (May
20-22) with round three at Essay near Alençon.

Strong performance by the Hansen Team in the European
Rallycross Championship
England, Dover
The drivers of the Hansen Team, Liam Doran and Timur
Timerzyanov, did a strong opening of the first round of
the European Rallycross Championship. Both made it all the
way to the A-final and finished fourth and fifth.
Doran had his eyes set on the podium, but an engine
problem in the A-final made it impossible for him to give
his full potential. The Englishman managed despite the
lack of power take valuable ERC points through his fourth
place.
- I’m both happy and disappointed for the result today,
Liam Doran says. Happy because I know I have more to give
than was shown today. Disappointed I could not be top
three here on my home circuit and in front of the
fantastic spectators who supported me all weekend.
Timur Timerzyanov made his first ever ERC-race in the
SuperCar cathegory and did it in style. He qualified as
fifth into the B-final and did a smart and disciplined
final to go on and win it. He then took the last place
into the A-final.
- It was a
strange feeling to be in the A-final already in my first
race, Timur comments happily.
I still
have so much to learn and everytime I’m out on the track I
get a new experience.
The young driver duo showed
early that it is good speed in the Hansen C4:s as they
during the hard qualifying was up there fighting for the
top positions. It was a big success for the team to have
both drivers in the A-final.
Kenneth Hansen, now a days team manager, summons the
weekend:
- I’m proud that we managed the change in the way we work,
as I’m no longer driving.
To have the responsability for two strong talents, who is
very different, but at the same time helps each other, is
not easy. It will take some
races before we are completely syncronised, but the
success today is a good start to long season.
Sverre Isachsen won a head of Marc Laboulle and Davy

Kenneth Hansen antar ny utmaning i rallycross-EM
Kenneth Hansen har uppnått alla tänkbara idrottsliga mål
inom rallycross.
England.
Press release from Kenneth Hansen Motorsport
Sweden, 2011-01-11
Young exciting
driver duo to the Hansen team
Götene,
Now the two most desired driver seat in European Rallycross
has been taken. Kenneth Hansen this weekend signed two young
and very talented drivers for the team’s two Citroën C4’s.
The Englishman Liam Doran and the Russian Timur Timerzyanov
will be the driver duo in the 2011 European Championship
campaign for the Swedish team.
- I am proud and happy to have the two most exciting drivers
in the ERC joining our team, says Kenneth Hansen
enthusiastically.
- With so much energy and hunger coming from these two guys
it will be impossible not to give them the best we can
offer, the will to win. That feeling has bought the team a
lot of success during the years.
Liam Doran (UK) drove for the Hansen team last year. He
proved to be a sensation in his first serious attempt on the
international scene, taking the ERC-bronze, only beaten by
Sverre Isachsen and Kenneth Hansen himself.
Liam is 23 years, lives in London and has competed in
rallycross since the age of 14. He has experience and talent
that will take him a long way, preferably to an ERC gold
medal this year.
- I look forward to the first race on my home circuit Lydden
Hill on April 25, Liam says. Last year I was fast, but did
too many small mistakes. This year I have more experience
and confidence and focusing on the right things will be the
key to winning the ERC title.
Timur Timerzyanov (RUS) is also 23 years and lives in Kazan
in Tatarstan. Timur is an ex-top-level gymnast, who in 2003
switched to motorsport. De first couple of years he was in
karting and went to rallycross in 2005. He has made an
astonishing career and last year he was crowned European
Champion in the Super 1600 cathegory. With discipline and
accuracy Timur has all the qualifications to be the best in
the top division, SuperCars.
- It will be great fun to join the Hansen team, Timur smiles
with expectations. I think that with Kenneth Hansen as my
driver coach and Liam Doran as my team mate I can’t be on a
better place to learn and develop as a driver.
Hansen Motorsport will be a multi-national team in 2011. A
Swedish team, with French cars, French engineers, Swedish,
English and Norwegian mechanics and on top of that an
English and Russian driver duo.
- We plan to begin with testing in the end of March, Kenneth
says. Before then we will build a couple of really fast
Citroëns
