Doran Jnr signed with legendary Kenneth Hansen
The Citroen-Total Kenneth Hansen Motorsport Team recently signed with young British talent Liam Doran for the 2010 FIA European Rallycross Championship season.
After an impressive first season in the European Championship Doran Jnr managed to catch the attention of 14 times Championship winner Kenneth Hansen. As part of the strategy to do the best work possible for Citroen both in promotion and technical development the Citroen-Total-Hansen team engaged Liam Doran as a part of the team for 2010.
Doran Jnr commented "I am thrilled to be given the opportunity to drive with such a successful team. Rallycross is my life and this is a dream come true for me. With Kenneths experience and the professionalism of the team I hope that I can help Citroen achieve podium positions in next years championship"
Even with only one years European experience under his belt Hansen is confident that Doran Jnr will rise to the challenge in helping the team achieve success.
Kenneth Hansen says “Our team is happy to have such a devoted and promising driver along with us. Liam has a good understanding of the sport. I am sure he will do a great job both as a driver and to give valuable feedback to make us give him the best car possible.”
Doran Jnr was introduced to Rallycross at the young age of just 14 when he competed in the MSA British Rallycross Championship for the first time. Liam made his way up the Rallycross ladder taking him in just 4 years from Minis to Supercars. In 2008 Liam made the jump to supercars resulting in instant success. After two years of experience in the powerful Division 1-cars Liam is now ready to take on the challenge of the Citroen-Total Hansen team’s Citroen C4s in 2010.
The FIA ERC will consist of 10 rounds visiting the best Rallycross circuits in the world.
The Citroen-Total Kenneth Hansen Motorsport team will be planning to launch the teams 'latest addition' at the 2010 Autosport International at the NEC in January.
Then you will have the golden opportunity to meet with Liam Doran and Kenneth Hansen and to find out more about the drivers and why they believe they can push each other to the top of the Championship.

Victory and a sixth world title for Loeb/Elena
Press release, 2009-10-25, FIA World Rally Championship from Citroen Racing
It was an emotional final day of Rally GB for the Citroën Total WRT. In spite of having led from the
outset, Sébastien Loeb and Daniel Elena only saw the rally swing decisively in their favour on the
penultimate stage.
With their 54th world class win, the Franco-Monegasque pairing sealed their sixth consecutive World
Championship. After fighting until the final minutes of the rally, Dani Sordo and Marc Marti finished
just one second off second place.

The Czech Republic, Sosnova
Kenneth Hansen third in the European Championship after engine problems.
Kenneth Hansen could not defend his European Championship title in rallycross this year and finished on third place overall. After the engine problems the team had in the final round in the Czech Republic there was not anything they could do.
- It is hard to realize but I know we have done what was possible, Kenneth says disappointed.
Kenneth started the race in a promising way by being the fastest during free practice, but after that the rest of the race weekend was lined up with set backs and technical problems. Kenneth did as much as he could and it took him all the way to the B-final, but there he was forced to retire.
- Me and my team has had so many good and successful seasons in Rallycross, so sooner or later there can come periods of difficulties and obviously now it was our turn to face it, Hansen reflects.
The ERC-title went this year to Norway and Sverre Isaksen. Michael Jernberg had once more to settle for second place in the series.
It was Isaksens weekend in the Czech Republic from the beginning, with a speedy consistency he dominated the A-final and won both the final race and the Championship title.

Kenneth Hansen on the podium in Poland
Kenneth Hansen showed a great strength in Poland and put in a higher gear in the fight for the ERC-title. To defend the Championship gold Hansen knew that it was only victory that counted. And he gave them a good match, as expected from a 14-time Champion. If luck could have been on his side Hansen could just as well have won today, but instead it ended with a third place. Andreas Eriksson won, with the ERC-leader Michael Jernberg on second place.
- I certainly had the capacity to win this weekend, Hansen says, but after some incidents where my car got rather damaged I was not able to push as I wanted.
Kenneth was aware that the situation was difficult as the team faced the race in Poland. After a season that has been difficult and tough Hansen came to the penultimate race looking for revenge.
In the first qualification round rain spoiled Hansen’s chances for victory. He went on to be the best in the second heat and had a fourth time, only 0,8 sec from pole position, in the third session.
Kenneth started third in the A-final and immediately he set an astonishing pace. Unfortunately Hansen lost engine power as the exhaust was damaged after Frode Holte crashed into the Citroen. But Hansen did not give up. He mobilized all his strength and managed to challenge Andreas Eriksson for the lead. In their fight the two Swedes battled hard side to side. Hansen was forced to back off as his rear wheel was damaged and he hobbled in over the finish line as third.
- I gave them a fight and a good show, Hansen comments on his efforts in the A-final.
Michael Jernberg is leading the ERC on 126 points ahead of Sverre Isachsen on 121. Kenneth is third on 110. The ERC-final is already next weekend in Sosnova in the Czech Republic. You can count on action and drama!

Kenneth Hansen forced to retire in the Germany ERC
There was not much that went Kenneth Hansen’s way during the eight round of the European Rallycross Championship on Estering Circuit in Germany.
After several minor errors in the qualification rounds the reigning Champion started only on second position in the B-final. Hansen did what was expected from him and made a great start entering the first corner in the lead. But there the fun was over. Guttorm Lindefjell attacked hard and hit the front wheel of Hansen Citroen. The steering broke and Kenneth was forced to retire from the final.
- I get very frustrated when some drivers just seem to have more difficulties than others to drive and act in a sportive way, Kenneth comments noticeably irritated over the nasty collision.
- It will not be easy to defend the ERC-title now as only two rounds of the Championship remains, Hansen says. But I have never given up before so I will take the tough line and fight until the last meter.
The race for Kenneth was characterized by ”misfortune”. Even if the Citroen went really well and could give Hansen several fastest lap times it was external circumstances that was part of the explanation why the result did not match the speed. 21 time in the first heat, 8:th in the second and a 4:th in the third heat was results that did not reflect the driver performance.
Sverre Isachsen took another victory here in Germany after his top-score in Belgium last weekend. Andreas Eriksson finished on second place and Michael Jernberg on third in an A-final that lacked some good action.
Kenneth lost valuable points due to the failure today and is now on third place overall with 95 points. Michael Jernberg is leading with 109 and Sverre Isachsen caught up with him and has 108 points.
Next race will be in Poland on September 5-6.
Johan Larsson, who competes in the smaller class, division 1 A, in the Kenneth Hansen Team colours, did his ever best race in the European Championship as he finished on second place overall. He had pole position in the A-final but had to give first place up to Rolf Volland from Germany. Johan is one of the young rallycross talents that is up and coming.

Maasmechelen, 2009-08-09
Kenneth Hansen only third in Belgium
Kenneth Hansen was in good form when the European Rallycross Championship came to Belgium, but despite that he only got away with a third place. He was often fastest on the track with his Citroen, unfortunately that did not help much when the race strategies put success on hold for Hansen.
A third place in the A-final did not make Hansen happy at all, especially not as his two main rivals, Sverre Isachsen and Michael Jernberg, finished first and second.
- I had the speed, but I could not use it in the way I wanted as my tactics turned out to be less impressive this time, Hansen says disappointed. In the A-final I went for the joker lap at an early stage, but was later on slowed down and couldn’t overtake quickly enough to go for a victory.
Hansen did a good qualification and started from the third position. Isachsen and Jernberg pulled away in the front at once while Hansen opted for the joker immediately. It looked like a great maneuver until Hansen caught up with Frode Holte. It was too slow and after that he could challenge neither Jernberg nor Isachsen as planned.
Holte finished fourth with Jos Kuypers as fifth and Jean-Philippe Dayraut on sixth place.
Kenneth Hansen still has his second place in the ERC standings with 89 points. Michael Jernberg is leading on 94 points and Isachsen is just behind Hansen with 88.
Already next weekend it is time for the eight round of the ERC in Germany.
Results A-final, Division 1, Belgium
1. Sverre Isachsen (N) Ford – 20 p.
2. Michael Jernberg (S) Skoda – 17 p.
3. Kenneth Hansen (S) Citroen C4 – 15 p.
4. Frode Holte (N) Volvo - 13 p.

FIA European Rallycross Championship round 6 of 10
Höljes, 2009-07-05
Tough A-final at the ERC in Höljes
Kenneth Hansen was in great form when the European Rallycross Championship took place in Höljes. Hansen started from the first row of the A-final and gave it all for a victory. Ludvig Hunsbedt was on pole position and grabbed the lead in the start of one of the most spectacular A-finals this year. Kenneth let Hunsbedt now at once that he was hot and for over one and a half lap the two rallycross legends had a tough fight for the lead.
- Unfortunately I got technical problems and also a puncture which forced me to give up the battle, says Hansen, who had higher goals than a fifth place which was the results at the end.
In front of 25.000 spectators around the Höljes circuit Stig-Olov Walfridson enjoyed a brilliant A-final by going from the last start position to win the race. On second place came Ludvig Hunsbedt and third was Kjell-Arne Smerud. Henning Solberg has an eventful journey through the final and finished on fourth place. Michael Jernberg was unlucky in the first corner as he was hit and went off. He recovered but was last in the final.
The A-final was the peak for all the spectators, who after a grand weekend, was entertained by one of the most spectacular and wild races where not even a meter was without action.
Kenny Bräck, who drove for Team Hansen, made a really good performance in his first Rallycross race ever. During practice he was second overall, but for the official qualification he had some engine trouble which cost him valuable time. He was 14:th and that meant he was forced to start from the outside in all of his heats. It was everything but an easy way for Bräck, but he did not give up and learnt something new each time he was on the track.
- I have had a good time and enjoyed it a lot and as a Rallycross rookie I think I did well, Kenny says after his fifth place in the B-final.
Despite an annoying fifth place in the A-final Kenneth Hansen moved up to second place in the overall standings of the ERC with 74 points. Michael Jernberg, with 77 points, is now the new leader of the ERC as Sverre Isachsen, who was leading before Höljes, did not make it to the finals after a poor race.
Next on the calendar is Belgium, Maasmechelen, on August 8-9.

Spänningen stiger inför Rallycross-EM i Höljes

Photo: www.erc24.com

Kenneth Hansen second in Austria
It was a turbulent round of the European Rallycross Championship in Austria. After several accidents with injured drivers and crashed cars the discussions was stormy regarding whether the race should continue at all. The drivers was not unanimous and therefore it was decided that the race should be finished.
Michael Jernberg won the A-final in division 1 which turned out to be a hard race despite an agreement among the six drivers in the final to be on the safe side due to all previous accidents.
Kenneth Hansen was second, but had a rough time with some heavy contact by Andreas Eriksson.
- I though I would had to retire, but managed to sort out the situation, Kenneth explains.
Stig-Olov Walfridson finish third. Ludvig Hunsbedt came in on fourth place and Andreas Eriksson on fifth. Sverre Isachsen was leading the A-final but had a puncture and was forced to stop.
- It was one of the darkest Rallycross races in a long time, Kenneth Hansen says and thinks about the four drivers that was injured after some nasty accidents.
First Johan Larsson, who work together with the Hansen-team, rolled heavily and got a neck-injury. The Finn Jussi Pinomäki, who drives a Citroen C4, and the German Rene Munnich, was injured when they in full speed crashed during the first qualification heat on Saturday. And finally David Johansson rolled and he was taken to hospital with helicopter.
- Luckily everyone is quite okey considering the circumstances, Kenneth informs after a meeting with the clerk of the course.
In the overall standings of the ERC Hansen dropped to third place with 62 points. Isachsen is still leading with 68 and Jernberg is second with 66. The fight for glory continues in Sweden in Höljes on July 4-5.

1. Michael Jernberg (S) Skoda 20 p.
2. Kenneth Hansen (S) Citroen 17 p.
3. Stig-Olov Walfridson (S) Renault 15 p.

Kenneth Hansen faced problems in the A-final in Hungary
Kenneth Hansen was only fourth in the A-final of the Hungarian round of the European Championship in rallycross and lost valuable points in the overall standings. Michael Jernberg won while Hansen’s toughest concurrent Sverre Isachsen took fourth second place in a row.
- It was disappointing to only get a fourth place, says Kenneth. After the races in Portugal and France, where I was only fifth, we have worked really hard to solve the mystery why there was no speed as it should have been. We found answers and made some promising tests. After the qualification heats here in Hungary I was back to fight in the top again. And then this happens in the A-final….
Kenneth Hansen started from third position in the A-final and was aiming for victory. The start went well, but towards the first corner there was contact between Hansen’s Citroen and Ludvig Hunsbedt's Volvo. The contact, that wasn’t so hard, caused an electrical failure on the car. The engine suffered from a severe loss of power and Hansen was unable to keep up the pace. The only ones he managed to have behind him was Hunsbedt and Andreas Eriksson.
In front of Hansen Michael Jernberg pulled away with a well deserved victory ahead of the leader of the ERC Sverre Isachsen. Jussi Pinomäki, rookie of the year, grabbed an impressive third place in his Citroen C4.
- I know that my Citroen is quick now, Kenneth says and want to focus on the next race in Austria next weekend.
Hansen is still second overall in the series with 58 points, 9 after the leader Isachsen with 67. Hunsbedt is third with 53.
Results A-final, Division 1
1. Michael Jernberg (S) Skoda – 20 p.
2. Sverre Isachsen (N) Ford – 17 p.
3. Jussi Pinomäki (SF) Citroen C4 – 15 p.
4. Kenneth Hansen (S) Citroen C4 – 13 p.
5. Ludvig Hunsbedt (N) Volvo – 12 p.

Kenneth Hansen honoured with Prince Bertil Award by the Swedish Royal Automobile Club
Kenneth Hansen has by the Royal Automobile Club (KAK) in Sweden been honoured with the Prince Bertil Award. The award has been named by the late Prince Bertil who was the chairman of KAK for many years. The Swedish Royal Automobile Club is Sweden's oldest motoring organization. The organization was founded in 1903, at the very beginning of automotive history.
Kenneth is now joining a prominent group of the biggest names of Swedish Motorsport such as Björn Waldegård, Ronnie Pettersson and Kenny Bräck.
At a ceremony at Grand Hotel in Stockholm the chairman Christer Zetterberg handed over the Award. The jury consisting of Sport journalists, representatives of the Swedish ASN and KAK was unanimous in the decision that Kenneth with his remarkable 14 European Championship titles was a suitable candidate with the statement
”The Prince Bertil Award has been given to a Swedish race driver that through his extraordinary results has established a superior ability”.
- This is big! Kenneth says and shows his medal with Prince Bertil on.
- I am grateful for the recognition both for myself and my team, but also for Citroën who has supported me and believed in me for many years. I and my wife Susann have always worked side by side to reach the top and we are very proud of this fantastic reward.
Next week it is time for Kenneth and his team to load the Citroën into the trailer again and set the navigator on Hungary and Austria for the next couple of rounds of the ERC and hopefully new victories.

Thomas Lindskog, KAK
Philip von Mecklenburg, KAK
Hans Hellquist, Riksidrottsförbundet
Jerker Löfgren, Riksidrottsförbundet
Hans Hillebrink, Svenska Bilsportförbundet
Kåge Schildt, Svenska Bilsportförbundet
Johan Ejeborg, Svenska Sportjournalisternas Förbund
Sven Gustavsson, Svenska Sportjournalisternas Förbund
Fakta om KAK:

Pressrelease Karlstad, 2009-05-14
lyckad rallycrossdebut.

France Alencon, 2009-05-10
A new fifth place for Kenneth Hansen in France.
France Alencon,
The French round of the European Rallycross Championship was not the success Kenneth Hansen had hoped for. It was home circuit for the Citroen C4 of Hansen so a top results was the main target this weekend. But it ended with only a fifth place for Kenneth who never got the opportunity to fight to the full during the race. His hardest concurrent Sverre Isachsen finished second, while Ludvig Hunsbedt won in Alencon.
- We suffered from a technical problem with the car already in the first qualification heat and was forced to retire from that, Kenneth says.
- Due to this set back I have struggled all day and never got the chance to make good performances.
In the A-final Hunsbedt pulled away immediately, followed by Isachsen and Michael Jernberg. Jussi Pinomäki did a fine job in his Citroen and finished fourth. Kenneth as well as the others had difficulties to see anything on the dust on the track. As they reached the finish flag Kenneth had still not found any good possibilities to advance in the field from his fifth place.
Now the team returns to Sweden to get prepared again for the next race which is u Hungary on May 30-31.
Sverre Isachsen leads the ERC with 51 p. Kenneth Hansen has 44 p and Ludvig Hunsbedt is closing in with 41.
Timmy Hansen did his debut in Formula BMW and took a promising ninth place when the race two took place this morning in Barcelona as a supportrace to the F1-race.
Little brother Kevin Hansen shares his lead in the South Swedish Karting Championship after finishing on second place in the second round in Jönköping.
Results A-final, Division 1

FiA European Rallycross Championship round 2 of 10
Portugal, Montalègre, 2009-05-03
Kenneth Hansen met set backs in Portugal.
There was never any flow for Kenneth Hansen during the race in Portugal and the second
round of the Championship. It ended with a mediocre fifth place in the A-final, where Kenneth never was close to the top.
- No, this track has never been any of my best friends, Hansen verified disappointed.
- To drive as rough as needed here is not what I do best. There were never any major problems with my Citroen C4, it was only me that did not find a good pace.
Kenneth took the last directly qualified place into the A-final. In the start, where Sverre Isachsen and Ludvig Hunsbedt were on the front row, it got rather tight as they reached for the first corner. Hansen’s only choice was to go for the joker lap as it was crowded in front of him.
Hunsbedt was forced to retire after only one lap due to the incident with Isachsen. Andreas Eriksson weaved his way through and could soon catch Isachsen, who had lost valuable time in wrestling with Hunsbedt.
The two Frenchmen Olivier Anne and Jean-Luc Pailler had a derby of their own in the Final. Close behind them was Hansen, but the dust and the bumpy track made overtaking full of risks. On the last but one lap Andreas Eriksson managed to get past Isachsen. And with that move he took both the victory and 20 new points back with him home to Sweden.
Kenneth is now second in the Championship with 32 points, while the new leader Sverre Isachsen has 34. Next weekend, June 9-10, takes the third round of the ERC:s ten place in France, Essay-Alencon.
For the Hansen-family it will be a busy weekend. The father Kenneth Hansen has his ERC race in France. The oldest son, Timmy Hansen makes his debut in racing in the opening round of the Formula BMW Europe in Barcelona. Little brother Kevin Hansen drives as the leader of the series the second round of the South Swedish Karting series.

FiA European Rallycross Championship round 1 of 10
England, Lydden Hill, 2009-04-13
Kenneth Hansen celebrated Easter with victory in the ERC-opening race!
Kenneth Hansen played all his cards right as the new season off the European Rallycross Championship took off at Lydden Hill in England. Kenneth won the A-final after a perfect tactical strategy.
- It was great to win here! Hansen cheers and his team joins him in celebration.
Hansen was never the fastest during the qualification rounds. He had put his vision beyond that. Saved his tyres, fine tuned his suspension, considered who to make the best tactical moves in the Final. Kenneth managed to take pole position after three second places.
In the A-final Kenneth reacted as a flash as the start light went out and pulled off in the lead. But, Sverre Isachsen was keen to show that he was not going to give up that easily. Hansen closed the door and kept the Norwegian behind. Michael Jernberg went for the joker lap already on the first lap. Michael was quick and he closed in on Hansen, but a flat tyre forced Jernberg to retire and he finished sixth.
Sverre was right on the tail of Kenneth. With two laps to go of the final Hansen, with nerves of steel, gives his lead to Isachsen as he chooses the joker lap. He rejoined again behind Sverre. Kenneth knows what is Citroen can do and he push to close up on the leader again.
His tactics was perfect. As Sverre has half a lap left he has to do the joker section as well and Hansen takes back his lead. Victory!
The Frenchman Jean-Luc Pailler followed the leading duo as a shadow and finishes third. On a fantastic fourth place came the surprise of the race, the newcomer Jussi Pinomäki from Finland in a Citroen. Jussi is the reining Champion in the smaller category, Division 1 A and has taken the step to Division 1 this year. With a new built Citroen C4 from the Hansen-team he proves at once what he is made of.
On fifth place came Guttorm Lindefjell.
- It has been a tough winter, Kenneth says. We have built a new car for Jussi and are working on a new for me. And then the ERC-opener is one month earlier than usual. But at the moment it is worth everything. For us it is like two victories. We won and Jussi went to the A-final in his first race.

2. Sverre Isachsen (N) Ford – 17 p.
3. Jean-Luc Pailler (F) Peugeot – 15 p.

Kenneth Hansen won the A-final in England
Kenneth won the season-opening race at Lydden Hill in England. From pole position he did the best possible out of the A-final and was in control of the race from the first lap.
The first corner was tight as Sverre Isachsen came up on the inside of Kenneth, but had to back off again as Kenneth made no room for him. Michael Jernberg was quick, but had to retire from third place as he got a puncture.
Kennet was leading as two laps remain. He then choose to go for the joker lap letting Sverre through. Hansen knew what to do and had squeezed the best out of his Citroen C4 beating the Ford as Isachsen joined the joker lap with half a lap to go. Kenneth took back his lead and was the first to take the finish flag.
- It was a tactical victory, Kenneth says. I was not so fast in the qualification rounds but I had my mind set on the A-final and played my cards after that. It worked!!!
The Hansen team was really happy with the victory and they have as usual put in a tremendously good job! Bravo boys! You are the best!

1:st qualification round
- OK, second place is allright, Kenneth comments on his first heat.
- I went for the jokerlap allready in the start as I felt I could not beat Sverre to the first corner. Perhaps I tried to hard to catch Sverre because I made some mistakes pushing my car to much and getting to wide.
For tomorrow the team has prepared some changes to be better on the pace.
Jussi Pinomäki who also drives a Citroen C4 is making his debut in Division 1 - and he does it brilliantly. In the official timed practice he was sixth overall and the same place also in the qualification heat.
Jussi who was the European Champion in the Division 1 A last year has moved up to the highest cathegory this year. He has allready shown what he is capable to do, and just give him a couple of races and he will show us some more good performances.

England, Lydden Hill, 2009-04-12
So, finally the season has started! And the European Championship is back in England and Lydden Hill. The last time the Championship was here was back in 1996.
A couple of years ago Pat Doran bought the circuit. He and his team and family has turned it into a nice well organised track. Well done to everyone concerned! We are all happy what you have done for rallycross!!!
Lydden is a very fast circuit where the drivers has to be brave enough to carry the right entryspeed with them into the sweeping long corners.
- I use the fifth and sixth gear more than on any other circuit, Kenneth says.
- My official timed practice was ok and now we'll see what I can do in the qualification heat.

Press release
2009-04-08 - FIA European Rallycross Championship
Kenneth Hansen begins new rallycross season on Easter Holiday
enneth Hansen is ready to face a new rallycross season, and this year as the defending Champion.
With an early start to the Championship the first race takes place on Lydden Hill in England during Easter Holiday, April 12-13.
Kenneth Hansen, who regained the Championship title last season after two years with "only" second place, are now able to put back the number 1 on his Citroen C4.
- And I have no intension on losing it, but I'm well aware it will be a hard fight, Kenneth Hansen says.
- It is victories that are my only real motivation. To continue to stay on the top despite that some things I ought to quit feels like a good answer to that.
After 20 years in the sport and 14 ERC-golds Kenneth is an obvious title contender, with his enormous routine and street smart thinking.
The Hansen-team is a devoted gang who during the winter has sharpened the teeth on the Citroen even more. The engine is updated and the chassis has been given some innovating solutions for more drivability.
After the last two-day test before the season opening things feels promising. But, one should never underestimate the other drivers.
- I know that there are so lambs that I will be dealing with during the ten rounds of the Championship, Kenneth admits.
- I have to deliver top results each time otherwise I will be defeated.
Despite financial crisis the EC-season in Rallycross seams to be holding the same high standard as before. And Kenneth Hansen has learnt how to do the most of what he has. On Easter Monday we will see what he has up his sleeve this year.
