PRESS RELEASE
Götene 2008-01-09

Kenneth Hansen: - Now I’m tired of being second.

The last piece of the puzzle has now fallen into place and Kenneth Hansen can put on the helmet and push full throttle on his Citroen C4 with the ambition to regain the rallycross throne in 2008.
A few days ago it was clear that Citroen and Total will continue their cooperation of many years with the 13-times European Rallycross Champion, Kenneth Hansen.

- It feels really good! says a determined Hansen.
- The tough loss of the ERC-gold in the very last race in the Czech Republic last autumn has made the team and me more eager to get out there on the circuit and get revenge. I am honestly very tired of being second.

For the past two years Kenneth has lost the title to Lars Larsson in the last race of the season. Despite having such a good record in the history books with 13 gold and 6 silver medals in 19 years Kenneth is still hungry and perhaps even more now as he has been so close recently.

Citroen Sports legendary leader, Guy Fréquelin, has retired after many unforgettable years. Now we look instead with confidence forward to have another highly respected motor sport profile, Olivier Quesnel, taking Citroen to further successes.

Citroen Sport and Total will together with the other faithful Hansen-team sponsors, for example Sachs, Lemförder and Cedex to commit to a new season.

The speed was there all the time during last year, but several small problems caused the loss. Now it is a new fresh year with new deals. The hope is to have a constant high level of the results in each race. That has given the team the strength to try to get the ERC-gold back.

2008 will have one more race on the European Championship calendar and will consist of 11 rounds. The first performance will traditionally take place in Portugal in the beginning of May.

2007-11-06    Rallycross SuperPrix
Kenneth Hansen British SuperPrix Champion!
Super Prix Croft UK. Hansen won inhis Citroen C4!
Croft Circuit, England,
After a tough season in the European Rallycross Championship with crashes and set-backs Kenneth Hansen now managed to turn the trend around and finish the season in the best way possible with a victory in the Rallycross SuperPrix on Croft Circuit in Great Britain. With that he also defended his title as the British SuperPrix Champion.

- We did it! Kenneth smiles with satisfaction.
- This victory was for my father who passed away a month ago. And it is a victory for my team who constantly put in so much hard and work and devotion to everything they do without getting the attention from the outside as they deserve.

The mechanics really had to show what they were made of during the race weekend. An engine failure caused a great deal of work, but with phenomenally fast hands and smart co-operation they finished in time to give Kenneth the best car and then let him go out and do what he is best at.

Unbeaten as he was in both the qualification rounds and in the semi-final he started on pole position in the final. With a couple of close laps together with the former SuperPrix-winner Christopher Evans Kenneth put in a higher level in his driving and could go on to take a brilliant victory.

Now there will be some months without competition before the Rallycross season takes off again in the beginning of spring next year. Before then Kenneth Hansen and his team will have a great deal of work during the winter to find the way to be able to fight for new victories and championship titles in 2008.

Götene 2007-10-03

Our dear, dear SVEND HANSEN has left us for a place in heaven.
Svend and Kenneth. The best of friends - for ever!
The father of Kenneth has died in the age of 80 years. He passed away quietly in his sleep at the hospital in Lidköping. He has lived an extraordinary life with enthusiasm and happiness.
Svend followed Kenneth and rallycross closely with a great devotion.
Svend is the father of the "Jokerlap", which he introduced to the motor club in Götene for about 10 years ago.
He has left us with so many wonderful memories. To have had the fantastic opportunity to get to know him has made us all richer persons. We carry him inside of us and cherish his wisdom of life dearly.
Svend has gone away, but he as not left us.

V for Victory. A wonderful moment. This is so much Svend!
Even if Svend was very ill at the time of the final round of the Swedish Championship on Kinnekulle Ring less than a month ago (September 8) he wanted to be there. His life was to be with people. He was a very social and positive man. And there was always a joke a round the corner.
Mother Edith, Father Svend and Kenneth.
Edith and Svend has been married for 59 years! They have four children. Rita, Peter, Erik and Kenneth. Here at Kinnekulle Ring Svend has spend a lot of time both supporting Kenneth but also working as a deputy Clerk of the Course. He was the one to invent the revolutionary Jokerlap, which has meant a lot to rallycross. Svend was also the one to push for the European Championship to be held at Kinnekulle for back in 1992.
Svend - our dear Svend!
Grandfather Svend. Timmy and Kevin has a close relationship with their grandfather. Supporting them in karting in the same way he supported Kenneth some 30 years ago.
Niels, a relative of the Hansen-family from Denmark is here to visit. Svend and Edith moved to Sweden from Varde in Denmark in the beginning of the 1950:s and found job and a home here in Götene.

The Czech Republic 2007-09-23

FIA European Rallycross Championship in the Czech Republic. Round 10 of 10.

Kenneth Hansen’s nightmare race at the ERC-final in the Czech Republic.
Sosnova,
Everything that could go wrong went wrong. Kenneth Hansen had the worst nightmare race of his life when the ERC-final took place in the Czech Republic. An ERC-silver is of course a top result considering the turbulent season and the horrible roll in Norway in the middle of the year. But to lead the Championship standings before the final race and to come to a circuit where he is very fast on and then not even get the chance to fight for it. Now it was Lars Larsson that took the ERC-title this time after one of the hardest and toughest seasons for many years.

- A terrible weekend, Kenneth sighs heavily. During my 30 years in motor sport I have never had so much bad luck at one and the same event. Everything was against us. Engine failure, two big crashes and if that was not enough a puncture.

It all began with a broken engine at the free practice. The mechanics did a fantastic job and managed to change it for the timed qualification. Without a single lap of experience Kenneth went out to take fourth time, 0,15 seconds off the fastest. A result that showed how good he could have been here. In the first heat he crashed just after the first corner when Andreas Eriksson pushed him off. Kenneth went with the front straight into the barriers. Once again the team did a remarkable effort to make Kenneth go out in the second heat. Hansen did a perfect start and was leading facing the first corner as Sverre Isachsen came across the track and right into the door of the C4. A new heavy crash in the rail for Hansen. Just to fill up the bad luck he gets a front wheel puncture as he was leading the third heat.

A poor 18:th place overall made Kenneth missing the finals. Lars Larsson on the other hand had a golden opportunity when he from the first row in the A-final went on to take a fine victory.

- We congratulate the whole Larsson-team to the title, and believe it or not but we will miss Lasse and all on his gang when he now ends his carrier, Kenneth smiles. We have many great memories together from all the fights we have had during the years and I wish him all the best for the future.

Big blow for the Hansen team
The engine broke on the first free practice in Sosnova for Kenneth Hansen.
The mechanics are working like never before to be able to make it for the official practice.

FIA European Rallycross Championship in Poland. Round 9 of 10.

Kenneth Hansen still in ERC lead after second place in Poland.

Lars Larsson and Kenneth Hansen

Slomczyn,
After the European Rallycross Championship in Poland the four title candidates has been reduced to two. Lars Larsson did a remarkable race and took a superior win. Kenneth Hansen finished on second place and was quite happy with that.

- I have worked like crazy all weekend, Kenneth says with relief after finding the speed just in time for the A-final.

It turned out to be an A-final we will remember for a long time. With a Championship at stake the situation was very delicate. Of the four drivers still fighting for the top positions in the ERC both Michael Jernberg and Sverre Isachsen were left in the B-final. The other two, Kenneth Hansen and Lars Larsson, lined up in the A-final. Larsson on pole position and Hansen on fifth spot. Lasse took the command immediately as the lights went off and was followed by Andreas Eriksson and Kenneth. Hansen making a fantastic start from the last row. In the second corner Eriksson gets gearing problems and Kenneth overtakes. When Kenneth begins to brake for the next turn he gets a heavy push and the car spins around. Left in the barrier is Eriksson and Eklund. The race is red flagged and stopped. In the restart Andreas is not on the grid as he has been excluded for unsportive driving. Larsson is once again the best. He leads from start to finish and takes a well deserved victory. Kenneth had a more quite run this time and after a great performance he takes his Citroen C4 to a fine second place. Eklund is third with Ludvig Hunsbedt fifth and the new comer Rolf Volland fifth.

After the finish chaos brakes out with protests and complains. The clerk of the course finally decides that the black flag of Eriksson should be cancelled. Not to jeopardise to interfere in the close championship he lets the result just before the crash in the first A-final that was red flagged, to be the final one. If there will be more to come in this story we still do not know.

 - What happens now is not in my hands, Kenneth says. All I can do is to let all my concentration be focused towards next weekend and the exiting final round of the ERC.

Kenneth Hansen leads right now the overall standings with one point ahead of Larsson. To sum up the situation for the race in the Czech Republic one can say that the one of the two who is in front there will be the Champion.

Sweden Gotene 2007-09-08

A much longed-for victory for Kenneth Hansen on his home circuit.

Kenneth Hansen took a superb victory at the final round of the Swedish Rallycross Championship at his home circuit, Kinnekulle Ring. In front of crowded grandstand Kenneth showed what he was made of.

- It is such a wonderful feeling right now, Kenneth shines happily after the so much longed-for win. The expectations on us here at home are really heavy and just because of that it feels so great to finally make it again.

The weather had a big show as well with everything from sunny and warm to a big hail storm. This made the circumstances extremely difficult to foresee. Hansen did a remarkable start in the first heat and took the lead from the outside which gave him a qualifying win. In the second heat he was caught up behind in the dirt and was only sixth, In the third and last round he lost it to Lasse Larsson and was fourth overall.

In the A-final Per Eklund was on pole position. Kenneth started on the row behind him and third position. When Eklund and Tony Croon messed up as the lights went out Kenneth did instead a perfect start. After some side by side tackling in the first corner Kenneth could take his Citroen C4 out into the lead.

- I felt I made a gap at once, Kenneth says. I checked my mirrors and saw I could take the joker lap earlier than normal. Even if Larsson overtook me right then he made a small mistake and as he went for the joker I was back up on number one.

The Hansen team could finally celebrate a new very longed-for victory on Kinnekulle. Mikael Jernberg did the best recovery in the final. He started on the last and sixth position and finished on second place. Larsson was third but was happy anyway as he could celebrate a new title in the Swedish Championship.

Now Kenneth has to recharge his mental batteries quickly as he is facing the two most important races of the whole season when the European Championship will be settled. Next weekend, in Poland, it is on the edge and the positions for the final round of the ERC in Czech Republic will be fought for really hard.

France, Loheac. French Rallycross Championship
A-final

Kenneth Hansen warmed and got warm by the French spectators.

Rallycross in the little village Loheac in Brittany in France is in a class of its own. It is the heart of the sport. The 45.000 spectators had gathered around the circuit this time to watch the leader of the European Championship Kenneth Hansen getting busy fighting with the French elite in the eight round of the Championship. It was anything but an easy task. Hansen started from the third position in the A-final but was forced to retire on the first with technical problems after being pushed and turned the wrong way in the first corner.

- C’est la vie, Kenneth says with no hard feelings. The weekend has been very special despite the set back in the final.
- I have never felt as welcomed to a race as here in Loheac, the Swedish drivers reflects and puts his hand on the heart. The warmth and respect we have met during these days will always be remembered. Of course I had wished to do the whole race, but I believe my drive in qualifying made value for the money.

Kenneth was fast on practice but in the heats he had to work really hard from his outside line in the starts. But things got better and better the more he got used to the less powerful engine.
The French rules goes for smaller turbo restrictors which gives about 100 bhp less than the specification of the European Championship engine with 520.

A seventh, fourth and finally a second place in the qualifications gave a good starting position in the A-final. But all the fun came quickly to an end as Hansen faced the wrong direction after a couple of pushes. In the incident the transmission was damaged and he had to give up.

Marc Labouille took a brilliant victory ahead of David Meslier and Kenneth’s ERC- colleague Jean-Luc Pailler on third place. Mikael Poirier finished fourth and Olivier Anne, who also is an ERC contender, was fifth.

- Despite the poor end we were celebrated as we would have won, Kenneth says and think of the genuine warmth we all met during the weekend.
Now the team turns north again to get ready for the next race. It is time for Kinnekulle Ring.
It is the final round of the Swedish Championship but Kenneth has nothing to do with the title as he has put his priorities on the ERC this year as well.

Team Hansen in Loheac 2007

Kenneth pushed off in the A-final and was forced to retire.
As the A-final reached the first corner it got tight and Kenneth, who was third at the time, got pushed several times until the car faced the wrong way. In that moment the drive shaft left front broke and that was end of story for Kenneth this time.

- C'est la vie!, as we say in France, Kenneth says. Of course I had looked forward to be fighting for the podium and give the spectators a good show, but unfortunately I couldn't do it.

Marc Labouille won a fine victory ahead of Davis Meslier and Jean-Luc Pailler.

Kenneth to race at the French Championship in Loheac this weekend

Kenneth has been invited to take part in the eight round of the French Championship with his Citroen C4.
- It will be wonderful to be back in Loheac, Kenneth says. I have such sweet memories from the last time I was there back in 2001. The spectators, the circuit, the atmosphere is just magic! I love it there!

Loheac is about 50 km south of Rennes, where there is a big Citroen factory. Bretagne is the strongest area for rallycross and at Loheac the numbers of spectators are huge, somewhere around 40.000 persons each time.

FIA European Rallycross Championship in Holland. Round 8 of 10.

Kenneth Hansen won in Holland and is back in the ERC lead.

Top three in the A-final. Isachsen, Hansen, Larsson

Valkenswaard,
Finally Kenneth Hansen was able to do victory donuts after his brilliant victory in the Dutch round of the European Rallycross Championship. Hansen proved that he has put the big crash in Norway behind him and is back in better shape than ever this season.

- At last! the whole Hansen team cheers when Kenneth takes his Citroen C4 with a safe hand to a phenomenal first place.
- It was a long time ago now since we tasted the sweet victory champagne so it was so good, Kenneth smiles. It felt like it was our weekend all a long and despite a rain shower just before the start we made it. This was my best race for a long long time.

Hansen took the lead immediately from pole position in the A-final and controlled it from start to finish. In the first corner Michael Jernberg, who then was side by side with Kenneth, had a push and went wide. Sverre Isachsen was not late to take second place ahead of Lasse Larsson. Jernberg came in on fourth place and chased the two hard the entire final. Ludvig Hunsbedt was fifth and Guttorm Lindefjell sixth.

It is closer and tougher in the Championship than for many years and at least a hand full driver’s can still win as only two rounds remains.
Kenneth went into the lead of the ERC with 107 points. Isachsen is second on 104, while Jernberg and Larsson both are in third place with 103.

You can count on that the next race in Poland September 16 and the final round in the Czech Republic the weekend after will be a real thrill.

Belgium, Maasmechelen, 2007-08-12

FIA European Rallycross Championship. Round 7 of 10.
I'm back!!!
Kenneth Hansen back in the hot seat after the crash
Maasmechelen,
One month after the horrible crash in the Norwegian round of the European Championship in Rallycross, where the multiple champion Kenneth Hansen survived without any major injuries, it was time for him to meet destiny in the next race in Belgium.
Kenneth did a superb job and managed to get into the A-final again, where also the rest of the drivers in the top had qualified. Kenneth was more or less back in good old shape and showed it with a really strong drive in the final that he had no plans to give up the fight for the title.
Hansen finished fourth, but lost valuable points when Andreas Eriksson pushed Kenneth off after being overtaken.

- The first couple of qualification heats in the car with other ones around me were not feeling so good, Kenneth says. But little by little I came back and found the special race spirit that I used to have.
- During all this period I have had a fantastic support by my family and my dear mechanics that has been behind me all the time. Not a hard word from them that I destroyed their summer vacation. That was big.

Kenneth had engine problems during the first qualification heats and managed with the smallest margin to get into the A-final. It was due to be dramatic as all top-drivers had reached there plus the outsider Guttorm Lindefjell.
Michael Jernberg made the best possible out of his pole position and could after a hard fight with Lars Larsson in the first corner goes on to take the victory. Sverre Isachsen was second but had work to do keeping Andreas Eriksson and Hansen behind him. Kenneth was hot and had a wonderful flow in his Citroen. On the fourth lap Kenneth overtook Eriksson and climbed to third. Then the Ford-driver pushed Hansen off already in the next turn.
Kenneth lost to fifth but when Andreas was excluded for it Kenneth was back on fourth place, but important points were lost.

Jernberg is leading the closes European Championship for ages with his 90 points. Larsson is second on 88 and Hansen, Isachsen and Larsson all three has 87 points. Hunsbedt is fourth with 86.

Even if Kenneth had pole position in the first heat he lost the start to Lasse Larsson. As he wanted to take the jokerlap on the first round he had a fight with Ludvig HUnsbedt who also thought that was a brilliant idea.

FIA European Rallycross Championship. Round 5 of 10. Sweden Höljes.

Kenneth Hansen back on top of the Championship after a fourth place in Höljes.
Even if Kenneth Hansen finished only on fourth place in the A-final in the Swedish round of the European Championship Kenneth could go home from the event with a victory of the first half of the series. He leads the overall standings with one point ahead of two other Swedes Lasse Larsson and Michael Jernberg.

Larsson won the A-final on Höljes Circuit with the Norwegian Sverre Isachsen right on his tail. Thomas Rådström was third while Kenneth Hansen managed to get fourth place despite a big mistake on the first lap. Hansen was third but came too fast in a sharp corner and spun off the track by his own fault and lost a lot of space.
- Sure it was stupid, but on the other side I always want to try to win and then risks is a part of the game, Kenneth says and considers his situation. Now the lead of the Championship makes my mistake less bitter.
The Norwegians Morten Bermingrud and Ludvig Hunsbedt were fifth and sixth after some rough laps.

The Swedish European Championship is a big motor sport festival during three days and with 21.500 spectators the atmosphere is exceptional. Now the series goes west over the border to Norway next weekend. We are all looking forward to the next chapter in the toughest Championship for a decade.

FIA European Rallycross Championship in Sweden. Round 5 of 10.

Kenneth fourth in the A-final but back in the top of the Championship

Lars Larsson won the A-final ahead of Sverre Isachsen and Thomas Rådström.
Kenneth had a brilliant start from his fifth grid position in the A-final and was lying third after half a lap. But then he did a rare mistake and came too fast into a corner.
- I felt immediately that it was not going to work, Kenneth says, and I spun around. Pity!

Kenneth took 13 valuable points as he could overtake Ludvig Hunsbedt and Morten Bermingrud when they ended up in problems. It made Kenneth climb up to lead the European Championship again. With 62 points to 61 points for Michael Jernberg and Lars Larsson, Kenneth won the first half of the serie.
Next week the sixth round of the ERC takes place in Norway.

Qualification heat 1
The rain caused a mess again in the first qualification heats. Every heat but the two last ones in division 1 had dry and sunny weather. Kenneth was in the second last heat and as they stood in the start line the heaven opened itself and rain fell heavily.
- It was not to bad the first lap, Kenneth says. But it got worse and worse and on the last lap it was really bad.
Kenneth came out third after Sverre Isachsen and Morten Bermingrud. Morten took the joker lap immediately after the start and then Kenneth caught Isachsen and was on his tail. Sverre did the jokerlap before Kenneth who then was able to pull away and take the victory in his heat. The time, although, was not good enough.

The tarmac sections were difficult for Kenneth and he managed only sixth time.

FIA European Rallycross Championship in Austria. Round 4 of 10.

Kenneth Hansen had a difficult weekend in Austria
Austria, Greinbach
It wasn’t much that went Kenneth Hansen’s way in the fourth round of the ERC in Austria.
Hansen came on second place in the B-final after Lars Larsson, who then got the last ticket to the A-final.
Andreas Eriksson won a dramatic A-final ahead of Jos Kuypers and Ludvig Hunsbedt. Larsson finished on fourth place as Sverre Isachsen retired with a rear wheel ripped off and Michael Jernberg came to halt with engine failure.

Kenneth began the race weekend in the best way possible by setting the fastest lap on the timed practice. After that the problems lined up. In the first heat he was forced to give up when the suspension broke after a close fight with Jernberg. In the second heat it was okay and Kenneth was fourth in that round. In the third and final session he had to get another top-time to be able to reach the all important A-final. But an electrical failure ended all hopes. It was a 19: Th time and Hansen was down in C-final.

Hansen won the C-final, but with the last start position in the B-final the A-final horizon was still very far away. With a classic super-start by Kenneth he was up on third place already after the first corner. The Citroen-colleague Morten Bermingrud missed his line and Hansen was quick to overtake. Now only Lasse Larsson was in front of him.
- I did everything I could but without putting Larsson in an unfair situation, Kenneth comments.
It just wasn’t enough. That’s life sometimes. The only thing that is hunting me now is that I wasn’t able to give my 80 years old father a victory on his birthday today.

Michael Jernberg leads the overall standings with 61 points to Hansen’s 59 and Eriksson’s 56.
The next round of the Championship is in Sweden on June 30-July 1.

Hansen on second place in the B-final after Larsson

Kenneth did a strong performance in the B-final as he went from the sixth and last place on the grid to take second place after Larsson. Kenneth came out third behind Larsson and Berminrud after going on the outside of Eklund, Paasonen and Anne in the first corner.

- I did what I could, Kenneth says. On the first lap Lars and Morten got very wide in the fast gravel corner and then I overtook Morten and in that situation I also had my chance to take Larsson, but I was a little bit to far behind at that moment. A meter or two would have been enough. I lost on some parts and gained on others.

Kenneth won the C-final

Kenneth was third out in the start as there was a jump start from the second row.
He overtook Frode Holte on the gravel straight and then he managed to get by Koen Pauwels in the hairpin.
- I was a bit surprised that they let the start go, Kenneth says. And then I had my second surprise as we reached the fast gravel corner. They had watered the track before the final and it was so slippery. I was sliding as crazy and just kept my foot down to survive.

- The B-final will be everything but easy, Hansen says and looks at the line up. It could just as well have been the A-final.

qualification round 1.

Kenneth took the start in his heat. As the field reached the first corner Kenneth could not turn in as normal because Andreas Eriksson was holding his car on the outside. When Hansen was unable to take the corner properly Michael Jernberg saw his chance and went on the inside. Hansen and Jernberg was fighting side by side as they came out on the long gravel straight. Kenneth cut himself loose from the company and went on to take the lead. But in the fights in the first corner a steering arm in the rear left suspension broke and after one and a half lap Hansen was forced to retire.

FIA European Rallycross Championship. Round 3 of 10.

Kenneth Hansen took a new hot second place in Hungary.
Hungary, Nyirad
Kenneth Hansen had a tough weekend in the Hungarian round of the European Rallycross Championship. But in the end it turned out quite well with a second place in the A-final. Michael Jernberg was the best one also this race and grabbed 20 new fresh points and with that he earned the leadership in the overall standings.

- I don’t think it feels so bad with a second place, Kenneth says and explains:
- In the first heat I made a spin at maximum speed and managed to avoid, with the smallest of margins, to face the same brutal destiny as Lasse Larsson. Lasse crashed heavily on timed practice and had a severe concussion and had pain in the neck. With that in mind it sort of took the edge out of me for a while. I fought back as much as I could to get back in speed and it gave me an eleventh, third and then finally a first place in the last qualification round.

In the A-final Kenneth did a perfect start and got in behind Jernberg immediately in the first corner. Andreas Eriksson wanted also to be up there in the front and squeezed himself up alongside Hansen. Their battle was only an advantage for Jernberg who pulled away with a comfortable lead. Hansen came finally free behind Micke and pushed as crazy to try to put some pressure on the Ford-driver. The Citroen used all its potential and closed in bit by bit on the leader, but it was not enough and Jernberg took a convincing victory.

Sverre Isachsen from Norway wasn’t able to match the Swedish duo in top and finished on the last podium place. Andreas Eriksson came in on fourth after overtaking the Czech Pavel Koutny on the joker lap on the last lap. Per Eklund reached the A-final through victory in the B-final, but here he hadn’t the speed needed and he finished sixth.

Hansen lost number one in the overall standings with one point to Jernberg who now leads with 50 ahead of Hansen on 49. Isachsen is third on 38.

The biggest teams stay here in Hungary one week as the next round of the Championship takes place in Austria the following weekend.

A-final

Kenneth on second place after Jernberg in the A-final in Hungary
Kenneth Hansen did a great start in the A-final from his second row and could go on to take a nice second place after Michael Jernberg. Jernberg setting the pace allready in the qualification showed a briiliant drive and was leading from start to finish.
- It was a long way to catch these points, Kenneth says exhausted after a hot A-final.
I had a scary moment yesterday when I spun in high speed and then I had to struggle to get back into top times again.

In the third round Kenneth was really quick and did the best time of the weekend. He made a couple of changes on the set up for the A-final and then he could go flat out without problems.
- I had a fight with Andreas Ericsson in the first corner of the A-final, Kenneth says. As we scubbed each other cars Michael got the distance he needed to bring it safely to the finish flag.

Hansen took the jokerlap with one lap to go, but Jernberg was too far ahead to catch.
Jernberg now went up in the lead of the Championship with one point to Hansen.

FIA European Rallycross Championship in France. Round 2.

Kenneth Hansen leads the European Championship after second place in France.
France, Alencon-Essay,
Michael Jernberg took the victory in the French round of European Rallycross Championship after being in the top from start to finish. Kenneth Hansen was second, but chased Michael hard during the whole A-final.

- We had a really good fight, Kenneth smiles. It was nice to be able to have a fare and sportive fight like that. I think we gave the spectators a big show. We were side by side several times, but I had to back off.

In the first corner in the A-final it got more than tight when Andreas Ericsson tried to squeeze in between Jernberg and Hansen. It ended with a broken car for Ericsson and retirement. Per Eklund then found a way for third place. He had won the B-final, where victory was reality after Lasse Larsson was pushed off the track by Ludvig Hunsbedt. In the A-final Eklund kept the fast Frenchman Olivier Anne behind him until the last corner where they crashed and he dropped to fourth. Sverre Isachsen was fifth.

Hansen thought his Citroen C4 worked well, especially on dry conditions. During Saturday qualification Kenneth set a new official track record on Circuit des Ducs, which was celebrated in champagne as it should in France.
Today it rained on and off making the track very slippery from time to time. Hansen did not found the good set-up on the car and the driving was not perfect in the beginning of the day. For the final it was better and he could follow the speed of Jernberg.
- We have to learn from these experiences on rain and make it better in the future, Kenneth says.

France A-final first corner. Jernberg, Hansen, Ericsson

Jernberg won, Hansen second in France 2007

Kenneth leads the Championship after second place in France.
Hansen finished on second place after Michael Jernberg in the A-final. It was tight in the first corner between Hansen and Jernberg. Andreas Ericsson tried to squeeze in between the two but it ended with Ericsson retiring with a broken car. Kenneth and Michael had a nice fight for the rest of the final, keeping the spectators on their toes.
- Yes, we had a good battle. It is great fun to race Micke as we have the same kind of mentality on the circuit, Kenneth says.
Now the Citroen-Hansen team leads the championship a head of Per Eklund. Eklund won the B-final since Lars Larsson and Ludvig Hunsbedt had crasched out. Per did a strong drive and held the quick Frenchman Olivier Anne behind him. Sverre Isachsen was fifth.

FIA European Rallycross Championship. Round 1 of 10.

Kenneth Hansen third in the ERC opening despite an unpleasant surprise in the A-final.

Portugal, Montalegre. 2007-05-06

Lars Larsson won the opening round of the FIA European Rallycross Championship a head of Ludvig Hunsbedt and Kenneth Hansen. It was a dramatic final for more or less every one but Hansen had probably the biggest surprise.

Kenneth had a perfect situation in the A-final when he already in the start chose to take the joker lap. He came out on fourth place and only had to focus on catching the leading trio, Lars Larsson, Andreas Ericsson and Sverre Isachsen, who took the ordinary track.
- I had a good momentum in my driving and was closing in, Kenneth says and continues to let us know what happened.
- I thought my heart would stop when I suddenly saw a big stack of tyres in the middle of the road. It had rolled there after a touch by the drivers in front. There was no way that I could avoid the collision. The whole front was ripped off the car and the steering was damaged. I was lucky to be able to continue even if I lost valuable time.

Considering that Kenneth was rather happy with a place on the podium. Larsson had a tough fight over first place, but when Ericsson’s car lost a front wheel it was an easy ride for Larsson to the finish flag.

Ludvig Hunsbedt made a successful come back after a three year break. He showed his old style and was on max attack from the beginning. When Hansen hit the tyre stack Hunsbedt could overtake Kenneth for second place. Per Eklund finished fourth and Sverre Isachsen was sixth after his car broke down.

Kenneth Hansen’s new Citroen C4 was handling nicely in the hands of the Swede and his comment after the first race is that it is definitive a winner.

Montalegre was a complete new circuit in the European Championship. It still had a lot to wish for but it has potential to be good and there was close to 15.000 spectators. It is beautiful situated in the mountains, northeast of Oporto.

Next event in the ERC is next weekend in Essay-Alencon in France.

FIA European Rallycross Championship in Portugal. Round 1.

Kenneth Hansen third in Portugal after a dramatic final.

Lars Larsson won the first race of the year with Ludvig Hunsbedt on a great second place. Kenneth took third, but could also have been forced to retire.

- It is okey, but not more, considering the circumstances of the A-final, Kenneth comments.
The track was way to bad and the safety was poor was tyres, that was supposed to work as trackmarkers, kept on getting onto the circuit. I'm just glad no one got hurt.

The new Citroen C4 was handling nicely and Kenneth felt comfortable at once.

Hansen did a splendid move when he chose to take the joker lap immediately on the first lap of the A-final. He came out fourth behind Larsson, Ericsson and Isachsen, and he had a perfect position as he closed in quickly on the trio in front. But then the big unpleasant surprise came. Some tyres had rolled out in the middle of the track after Larsson & co had touched them. Hansen had no chance whatever to avoid running right into them. The complete front was ripped off, damaged the steering and lost loads of time getting rid of them as they got stuck under the car.

Second place for Hansen in the third heat. Gives him second place in the A-final.

- Went well, Kenneth comments shortly. I did a couple of mistakes and then I should not be the fastest.

Larsson took the best time and as Ericsson finished third he was also the one to take pole position in the A-final. Kenneth got second time in the qualification round and second start position in the big final.

There is always question marks over how the drivers calculates when to take the joker lap. Everything can happen and its a gamble to see if it was the right choice or not.

Fifth time for Kenneth in the first heat.
Kenneth lost the start to Isachsen. After the first lap Kenneth chose to take the jokerlap as he felt he was being held back. Unfortunately Kenneth came out alongside Eklund and was not able to overtake him. The lap times were to slow and Kenneth only had fifth time.
- It was a pity I could not get past Per, but on this circuit it is very hard to overtake, Kenneth comments and reveals:
- We have also found a problem with the engine and for tomorrow I'm sure we will a little bit more power.

Sweden, Strängnäs-2007-04-25

Kenneth Hansen hungry for new ERC-title.

Kenneth Hansen sits in his Citroën C4 and looks quite happy. He is on Strängnäs Circuit and tests the new car, which he thinks will give him back the ERC-title. In one week this years European Rallycross Championship begins in Portugal.

- I have driven many race cars during my career, but no-one has felt so good from the first meters as this have, Kenneth smiles with confident. I think I have a great chance to win back the ERC again.

Kenneth Hansen has 13 ERC-gold’s and as an official Citroën driver he has only but one focus and that is to continue to be on the top level. The goals are crystal clear. Win the European Championship and take as many victories as possible during the 10 rounds.

The team planned already at the end of last season, when the title slipped out of their hands, how they would tackle the new car and make it the best ever, to be a new winner.
A lot of effort has been put on the development of the engine, which now has a much better power range. Suspension and balance has also been on priority to make the car easy to handle.

- We lost number 1 last year, Kenneth says. It felt hard of course, but the fact is that thanks to that we have found new hunger and motivation returned.

Kenneth takes off his helmet and talks happily with the mechanics about the drive. He checks logging files and calls the engineers in France. They decide to do another test in France next week on the way south.
- They have some new ideas that we feel like trying, Kenneth says. But it is a bonus. I am already happy with what I have. Now it is up to me to deliver the results.
