Victory for Kenneth Hansen in the last race of the year
On the last lap and in the last corner Kenneth Hansen managed to outwit the Brittish Rallycross Champion, the Irishman Christoffer Evans, and take the victory in the SuperPrix at Croft Circuit in the north of England.
- Really nice to be able to end the season with a win, Kenneth smiles satisfied. The British drivers are not easy to beat and I had to ”stand up” and drive to be at their pace.
After two heat wins and a second place in the semifinal Kenneth started on third place in the final. Hansen came out second behind the fast Opel driver Evans and Kenneth pushed himself hard to try to find an overtaking possibility for the Citroen C4. Hansen were up side by side a couple of times and just before the chequered flag the C4 was able to get into the lead.
The first year with the C4 gave the Hansen team victories in both the first and last race of the season.
After the final round of the European Championship and the loss of the ERC-title in Germany a month ago Kenneth and his team has worked hard to develop the new Citroen C4. The race in Croft gave some good answers to the changes they have made on the car.
- Yes, we feel confident regarding the path we have chosen for our technical work heading for next ERC-season, Kenneth says. This victory was the boost we needed and we are already mentally focusing on trying to take back the ERC-title in 2007.
In 187 days it is time again for the first round of the European Championship in Portugal.

Kenneth Hansen second in the European Championship after a difficult weekend.
So, then it was over. Kenneth Hansen lost the ERC-title to Lars Larsson. And he never had the opportunity to fight for it in the A-final. After a difficult weekend with electronical problems and a rain shower in the most unsuitable moment forced the Hansen-team to go into the B-final only.
From a fourth start position Kenneth did a brilliant start and challenged Tommy Rustad for the lead into the first corner. A push and Hansen was close to spin but managed to save the situation and came out on third place. Kenneth set off chasing for the lead. Here victory was the only thing that mattered. He overtook Sachweh and closed in on the leading Rustad more and more. Despite that Hansen did an impressive drive he was not able to take the win. It was only five meters off as they reached the finish line. Kenneth had needed to be on the podium and in front of Lasse Larsson, but that did not happened.
- Of course we are disappointed right now, Kenneth sighs and wipes the sweat off his fore head. It was so close, so close. But we congratulate Lars Larsson and his whole team to their first ERC-gold.
The A-final was won by Sverre Isachsen ahead of Andreas Eriksson and Tommy Rustad. Larsson finished on fourth place but that didn’t matter to the Championship. Morten Bermingrud and Michael Jernberg was both forced to retire after rough fights on the track when the positions was sorted out during the first half lap.
- Now we look forward, Kenneth says. Sure it was sore to loose the ERC-title, but on the other hand we are pleased that our new Citroen C4 has shown such potential and what we have managed to accomplish with it despite it was a new untested model in motor sport.

Unfortunate Hansen last in Poland when hardest rival Larsson won.
It looked really good for ERC-leading Kenneth Hansen when he entered the first corner side by side with Lars Larsson in the A-final of the Polish round in the European Championship. Then it all went wrong. Hansen was pushed wide out into the graveltrap and lost down to fifth place while instead Sverre Isachsen went up in the lead. Larsson attacked and regained the lead. Hansen did not give up. He just concentrated on the task and tried to make the best of it. He overtook Jernberg up to fourth and then set his sight on third man Tommy Rustad. Hansen took his Citroen C4 right up behind Rustad. In this moment Tommy had some problems with his Ford and it stopped suddenly. Kenneth did not have a chance in the world to avoid the crash. With a damaged transmission Hansen only had rear drive and the race was over.
In the front Larsson and Isachsen had a big fight where Lasse finally came out as the winner.
- It feels really bad right now, Kenneth sighs disappointed. There was nothing I could do. Bad luck when it strikes the hardest.
- We had worked according to the plan and found a good set up and the C4 felt nice and easy to drive, Kenneth continues. This was my best race ever here when it comes to speed. I have struggled on this track before but now it was a big improvement. And then it turns out this way.
In the ERC standings the final round in Germany will be crusial to the outcome of the Championship. Kenneth has to be on the podium and Larsson can not be in front of him. It seems that it will be a big thrill when the two giants of the series will meet next weekend in Germany.

Swedish Rallycross Championship Round 6 of 6
Kinnekulle Ring, Götene, Sweden 2006.09.09
SRC-bronze to Kenneth Hansen after a difficult final.
Michael Jernberg won the final round of the Swedish Rallycross Championship on Kinnekulle Ring. He was unbeaten in the qualification and won the A-final “easily”. Lars Larsson finished on second place and could with that celebrate the SRC-gold. Per Eklund came in on third place and got the silver medal.
Hansen had a really messy weekend. He lost in the fights on the track and had problems getting the grip for his Citroen C4 that he had wished for. The team worked as hard as they could, but not until the B-final they found the cure, unfortunately the chances to win were then quite distant.
- How much can go wrong in one day? Kenneth asks himself disappointed after the race.
Now it was a long time ago since we won here. Frustrating when we push ourselves to the limit to make it on home circuit. Fourth place feels no good. The SRC-bronze is all right considering we have only done two thirds of the Championship.
Kenneth was forced to go through B-final to reach the big final. He won the B-final after a hard fight with Andreas Eriksson. In the A-final Kenneth started on the back row and choose to try to surprise on the outside of the first corner.
- It was an okey manouver, but then I realised I had made the wrong tyre choice so I could not attack in my drive, Kenneth explains.
Now Kenneth has to put all this behind him quickly and instead aim for the next round of the European Championship in Poland in two weeks.

Kenneth Hansen on second place after a superb drive in the A-final
Kenneth Hansen did a marvellous drive in the final of the Norwegian round of the FIA European Championship in Momarken and finished on second place behind his fellow country man Michael Jernberg.
Hansen, who only just managed to get into the A-final and had to start in the last row, did not have the best situation to get even into top-three.
- I’m so happy to be back on the podium again, Kenneth cheers after the race. We have gone through some hard times and really have been forced to fight for each meter. Now it was better again. I think I took second place today thanks to a combination of good tyre choice, good tactics in the final and a good drive from my side.
Michael Jernberg, who challenged Hansen for the ERC-title last year took his first victory of the year. And he did it with style. Calm and efficient on the rough track, where the smallest mistake was punished hard.
The Norwegian Tommy Rustad, who started from pole position, had problems with his car in the start. He was last for a while but found strength to fight back up to third place.
K-G Lindqvist won the B-final and was fourth in his first A-final this year.
Hansen’s hardest competitor for the ERC-gold, Lars Larsson, finished fifth. He had a real scare when his car got a puncture on the fastest part of the circuit. But worst of all was probably the crash for Thomas Rådström, who at that point was leading the A-final but hit the rail very hard and was forced to retire.
- It turned out to be a very dramatic race, Kenneth sums up. It was action from the first second. I think the spectators was satisfied.
Kenneth increased his ERC-lead with some more points and has 128 with Larsson on 115. Rustad climbed up to third with 108. This race also counted for the Swedish Championship and with the second place today Kenneth moved from fourth to second place in that series. Exhiting considering that the final race will take place next Saturday in Götene, Kinnekulle Ring.
Next ERC round is in Poland on September 23-24.

Kenneth Hansen remains in the top of the ERC despite last place in the A-final
Kenneth Hansen was forced to retire from the final of Dutch round of the European Championship after suffering engine problems. Despite that Hansen still remains in the top of the overall standings as his two hardest competitors Lars Larsson (S) and Sverre Isachsen (N) did not even qualified for the A-final.
Kenneth was delayed already in the start when his Citroen-collegue Morten Bermingrud (N) couldn’t get off the grid fast enough. The Frenchman Jean-Luc Pailler took a convincing victory by leading from start to finish on the slippery track. There was a rain shower just before the A-final.
Hansen finally came out on fourth place after the first corner and had also Tommy Rustad (N) and Andreas Eriksson (S) in front of him. Kenneth did a good job behind the steering wheel and chased as hard as he could with the misfiring engine. The problem began after only half a lap. On the last lap of the A-final the engine gave up completely and Hansen was forced to turn to the side.
- It feels difficult now, Kenneth says with a big sigh. There hasn’t been many things that has gone my way lately. I had despite all a good feeling for the A-final to make a good result as I know I am normally quick on this circuit. But unfortunately I never had the chance to show it.
Mikael Jernberg (S) and Morten Bermingrud overtook Kenneth and finished on fourth and fifth place.
Kenneth remains in the top of the overall standings in the ERC with 111 points while Lars Larsson has 103 and Morten Bermingrud, who closes in, has 98.

FIA European Rallycross Championship.
August 13, Maasmechelen, Belgium
Kenneth Hansen fourth in Belgium but still leads the ERC.
A fourth place in the Belgian round of the European Championship was not the top result Kenneth Hansen was hoping for. Especially not when his hardest competitor for the title Lars Larsson won and decreased Hansen’s lead to only three points.
- Now it is really close in the top, Kenneth says aware of the hot situation for the ERC-gold.
- In the A-final today I had a wonderful start, perhaps it was even too good, Hansen tells tired after a rough day. I was side by side with Larsson through the whole first corner but he let his car go wide and finally there was no track left for me. Behind Larsson had already Pailler lined up so I came out on third place. Unfortunately I took the joker lap in not such a good time which meant I got stuck behind the Norwegian Morten Bermingrud. And as the circuit is difficult to overtake on there wasn’t much to do. It’s frustrating not being able to go as quick as I wanted.
Lars Larsson won ahead of Frenchman Jean-Luc Pailler and Morten Bermingrud on third place. The second Citroen C4 pilot Olivier Anne from France was fifth while the Dutch Jos Kuypers got sixth place.
- The positive aspect of this race, which we also will take with us mentally to the next race, is that we feel we have progressed in the developing of our new C4 and that it feels better than ever to drive, Kenneth says and packs everything to take off to Holland and the ERC in Valkenswaard in one week.

The Swedish Rallycross Championship in Strängnäs August 3
Kenneth will not drive in Strängnäs.
To straighten all question marks concerning Kenneth's participation in the race in Strängnäs on August we would like to confirm that Kenneth will NOT drive there.
- I withdraw my entry already in the beginning of the season and has never had the intention to do this race, Kenneth explains. There are several reasons for my decision, but most of all it is because I do not want to jeopardize damaging the car now when we only have a week between the race in Strängnäs and the European Championship in Belgium.

6:th round of the ERC in Nyirad in Hungary.
Kenneth Hansen still leads the ERC despite fifth place in Hungary.

Kenneth Hansen did not have an easy weekend when Hungary had their first race ever in the European Rallycross Championship. After set backs with a start crash and difficulties in the qualification sessions Hansen started in the last row of the A-final and finished on fifth place.
- It turned out to be a rather undramatic final for me, Kenneth says. It has not been my weekend at all and the last race was no different. I needed to be better than third to improve my points but I never manage to get there.
In the A-final the Norwegian Sverre Isachsen was in command from the beginning and protected by his team mate Tommy Rustad on second place he went on to take yet another victory in this first half of the season. Michael Jernberg was third and Morten Bermingrud fourth.
- The circuit was very hard to overtake on and I did not want to do anything crazy for Morten’s sake, Kenneth explains. We had already lost too much on Jernberg to make it worth the risk.
The weather was extremely hot with temperatures around 40 degrees which has made it hard to concentrate. For safety reasons the races was shortened in length a bit to be on the safe side.
Kenneth won the first half of the season now that six out of eleven races are done with 87 points followed by Lars Larsson on 77 and Isachsen on 74.

Kenneth Hansen on second place in Höljes
Kenneth Hansen was on second place after the Norwegian Sverre Isachsen in the Swedish round of the European Rallycross Championship in Höljes and he was really happy for it.
- I faught back from a fifth place after the start of the A-final to challenge Isachsen for victory, Kenneth says happily after the finish in the hardest race this year. It was maximum attack from the first meter and I pushed as much as I could the whole way. And in the end I increased my lead in the Championship which is the most important thing.
It was a fenomenal event during three days on the Swedish circuit with plenty of sunshine, barbeque and rallycross when it is at its best. The 21.000 spectators got good value for their money.
In the biggest class the competition was extremely hard. To reach the A-final at all was the first goal for Hansen and with two second places Kenneth started on the third grid position.
Sverre Isachsen was on pole position. In the first corner it was a bit of chaos with cars all over and Sverre and Kenneth was forced to take the joker lap at once while Michael Jernberg and Lasse Larsson went on in the lead.
- My thought was to hang on to Sverre through the field and make an attack on the first place at the end of the final, Kenneth explains his stratergy during the race.
And that was what also happened. Kenneth advanced place by place and on the second last lap Hansen did a giant jump and landed with the sparkles around him side by side with the Norwegian. Sverre was not late to answer to it and Kenneth had to back off again.
Morten Bermingrud managed to get a fine third place, with Tommy Rustad finishing as number four. Jernberg and Larsson, the leading duo to begin with had technical problems and had to retire getting fifth and sixth place.
Kenneth Hansen leds now the ERC-standings on 87 points. Lasse Larsson is still on second place with 77 and Morten Bermingrud third on 69.
Next ERC-round will take place in three weeks in Hungary which is a new organiser in the Championship.

- I fought back from a fifth place after the start of the A-final to challenge Isachsen for victory, Kenneth says happily after the finish in the hardest race this year. It was maximum attack from the first meter and I pushed as much as I could the whole way. And in the end I increased my lead in the Championship which is the most important thing.

FIA European Rallycross Championship
Austria, Greinbach, 2006-06-11
Nice performance by Kenneth Hansen gave him victory in Austria
Kenneth Hansen in his Citroën C4 won the fourth round of the European Rallycross Championship at Greinbach circuit in Austria. The reining champion showed excellent form and despite loosing down to third place in the start of the A-final he fought back in great style and overtook the lead from Lars Larsson on the very last lap.
- This was a good one, I can assure you, Kenneth says pleased over his victory.
- It did not look that promising to begin with, first because Lars Larsson (Skoda) that also has been quick today, pulled away in front and second because I did not managed to hold Jos Kuypers (Ford) behind me to begin with. Okay, so what, it was just for me to pull myself together and do the best I could.
After two laps in the A-final Hansen took advantage of a mistake by Kuypers and squeezed ahead of the Dutchman. Then Kenneth had maximum attack in his drive to catch up with Larsson that had gained a good lead at this point. Heading out on the last lap Hansen dived on the inside and overtook the race lead from his fellow countryman.
Even Per Eklund, whom Kenneth has had so many fights with, came to congratulate him for the best Rallycross he had seen on many years.
- A gesture like that puts a golden touch to the celebration, Kenneth says and shares the bubbles with him.
Morten Bermingrud (Citroen) had worked hard to repair his car since the big crash he had in the Czech Republic last weekend. Morten did a good job and came in on fourth place. Sverre Isachsen, the winner in the last round, did not have the same convincing speed now and was only fifth. The team mate of Isachsen, Tommy Rustad, finished on sixth place in the A-final.
Kenneth Hansen leads the ERC standings after 4 of 11 rounds with 70 points. Lars Larsson is second on 66 and Morten Bermingrud third with 54 points.
Hansen’s victory today extended his lead with a couple of more points as the European Championship now heads for the Swedish round in Höljes on July 1-2. And as always the expectations are high as it is like a big Rallycross festival all the weekend.

Kenneth won in Austria after a thrilling A-final
Kenneth showed an astonishing performance in the A-final of the Austria round of the European Championship. In the start it was the man on pole position, Lars Larsson, that grabbed the lead of the field a head of Jos Kuypers. Kenneth fell back to third place despite starting alongside Larsson. Kenneth had felt that he had found something special on this circuit and he knew he could he quicker that both in front. Kenneth was all over Jos the first couple of laps and then he made a brave manouver on the outside of Jos and managed to get second place.
Larsson had gained alot in front, but with a persistent drive he was soon on the tail of Larsson as well.
- In this moment I was thinking that I needed to be careful, Kenneth explains, and not risk anything. I tried once but had to back off, but just half a lap later I had another chance and as it was the last lap I just went for it.
Kenneth was over the moon with joy over his victory.
- It did not look so good to begin with, says Kenneth with a big smile on his face. But I said to myself not to give up. The finish line is was counts and I made it.

Third place in the Czech Republic and Kenneth Hansen is back on top of the ERC.
Kenneth Hansen finished on third place after an eventful A-final in the third round of the European Rallycross Championship in the Czech Republic.
It was the Norwegian Sverre Isachsen who won by dominating the race from start to finish. Behind Sverre the Dutchman Jos Kuypers managed a feat by squeezing in on second place after the first corner from his last starting position on the grid. Kenneth had to accept third place despite being on the tail of Isachsen.
All of a sudden, as Kenneth was chasing Jos, a lot of water began to spurt up from the bonnet. Afraid to get an engine breakdown Kenneth was watching the water temperature constantly and looses concentration of the driving for a split second and slides wide in a corner. Lars Larsson and Andreas Eriksson happily sees an easy overtaking opportunity and get past Hansen.
When the electrical alarm system doesn’t make any warning signals Kenneth decided to go on maximum attack again and soon he catches Larsson and Eriksson. Eriksson being the first having to return his place and shortly after the same thing happens for Larsson. Kenneth is back on third place again.
Morten Bermingrud met his destiny already in the first corner of the A-final where he hit a concrete wall and tore his left front wheel off.
- Sure it is nice to get on the podium, Kenneth says fairly happy, but we had aimed for a bit higher result. I am more satisfied that we managed to solve the mysterious problem right before the A-final when the engine refused to start. Thanks to a brainstorming effort by the team we found a solution in the last minute and could join the A-final.
Kenneth did not start the race in the best of ways. A ninth place after a mediocre drive in the timed practice forced Kenneth to fight back hard in the qualification rounds, getting a third and two second places.
The third place today brings Kenneth back on top of the leader board of the Championship with one point a head of Larsson, 50 points to 49.
Next race is the ERC round in Austria the coming weekend.
Result, division 1, the Czech Republic:
1. Sverre Isachsen (N) Ford 20 points.

Third place for Kenneth in the Czech Republic
There was a lot of action in the A-final of division 1 at Sosnova Circuit. Sverre Isachsen went on to win the race by leading from start to finish. Behind him it was more action. Kenneth who had second start grid position was beaten in the start by Jos Kuypers. Jos had entered the A-final by winning the B-final and he made an incredible start from third row. He managed to squeeze in ahead of Kenneth into second place.
Suddenly after two laps a lot of water began to spray on to the windscreen of Kenneth. And he did not know where it came from. His first though was that it came from the engine. As he anxiously looked at the water temp he did a mistake and went off. Lars Larsson and Andreas Eriksson was not late to pass Hansen. As Kenneth saw that the temperature did not rise and the power of the engine felt good he tried to catch the couple in front. First Kenneth overtook Eriksson and only half a lap later he also had Larsson behind him. Kenneth was on th etail of Kuypers again as the checked flag was waved.

Kenneth Hansen kept the spectators warm in the A-final in Arvika.
Kenneth finished on third place in the A-final in Arvika in the first round of the Swedish Championship.
Thomas Rådström won after a better tyre choice on the extremely slippery circuit. The track was floating in the heavy rain that came for as visit during the finals.
Kenneth came out second behind Rådström and was quicker on the tarmac parts but Thomas pulled away on the gravel sections. After Kenneth had been to wide in a corner on the second lap Eklund overtook him and the two had a spectacular fight for the remaining of the final.
Lars Larsson, on pole position, retired after the first corner when the steering broke down.

Results of the A-final in Arvika
1. Thomas Rådström (Hyundai)
2. Per Eklund (Saab)
3. Kenneth Hansen (Citroen C4)
4. Tony Croon (Ford)
5. K-G Lindqvist (Volvo)

Hansen and Eklund warmed the spectators
While Thomas Rådström won the opening round of the Swedish Rallycross Championship in Arvika Kenneth Hansen and Per Eklund kept the spectators warm with a hot fight in the A-final.
- We had a great fight and gave the people value for their money, Kenneth says and is quite happy with a third place despite all.
Lars Larsson had pole position, but retired already in the first corner when he broke his wheel after being squized between the rail and Eklund. Then Thomas Rådström was quick to get into the lead. Kenneth followed Rådström on second place, but lost ground as Rådström had made a better tyre choice which had better grip on the rain soaked circuit. When Kenneth slided too wide in a corner Eklund wasn’t late to take the opportunity to put Kenneth down to third.
- We had some engine problems in Qualifying, Kenneth explains, but we solved it for the Final. The car feels good now and that gives me a nice feeling for the next race in the European Championship in the Czech Republic next weekend, June 3-4.

Kenneth Hansen third with his Citroen C4 on French ground
France Mayenne,
Kenneth Hansen had a tough weekend and finished on third place in the A-final in the French round of the European Championship in Mayenne, with 22800 spectators around the circuit. After the previous win in Portugal the expectations were big for yet another top result by Hansen and his new Citroen C4. The way to the final was everything but straight on for Hansen, who struggled with problems in adjusting the engine electronics during practice and qualification.
- A podium place was quite okey, Kenneth says after the exiting final who was hard all the way to the finish line.
It was Lars Larsson who took a great victory after leading the final from start to finish. Behind Larsson it was a spectacular fight between Morten Bermingrud, Kenneth Hansen and Tommy Rustad.
- It was a difficult situation during the second half of the final, Kenneth explains. I wanted to attack on Morten, who was on second place, but at the same time I had to watch my back as Rustad was just on my tail.
Kenneth never found the perfect overtaking opportunity and had to settle for third place. Mikael Jernberg missed the start and was fifth. Jean-Luc Pailler retired with a broken engine and had sixth place.
Kenneth lost his lead in the ERC overall standings to Lars Larsson, who is leading with 35 points. Hansen has 35 points and Bermingrud and Rustad is equal on third place with 28.
Next ERC round for Hansen will be in the Czech Republic on June 3-4. before that he will do the opening round of the Swedish Championship in Arvika on May 25.

Kenneth Hansen's emotional victory in Portugal.
He did it! Kenneth Hansen took an amazing victory in his brand-new Citroen C4 at the opening round of the European Rallycross Championship in Portugal. In a dramatic A-final where Kenneth was under big pressure from first of all the Swede Lars Larsson and the ERC-rookie Norwegian Tommy Rustad, he managed to do what almost no-one believed to be possible. In a new and in competition untested car he takes first pole position and then goes on to cross the finish line as number one. That made the feelings surge even for an experienced winner as Kenneth.
- It’s wild, it’s incredible, Kenneth cheers and is embraced by all of his team in pure happiness.
- The last lap my tears rolled down my cheeks and my hands were shaking, Kenneth admits. This will be one of my best moments in my whole career.
The first round of the ERC had a strong line up in division 1 and exiting from the first to the last meter. The Frenchman Jean-Luc Pailler, who retired in the A-final because of engine problems, showed that he has a great form this season. And the newcomer in the ERC Tommy Rustad took an impressive third place. Lars Larsson was second and the one to chase Kenneth the hardest. Morten Bermingrud (N) was fourth and Jos Kuypers (NL) fifth.
In the A-final Kenneth took the start and when he braked slightly early into the first corner, to be one the safe side, it became rather chaotic behind him and Hansen got away with some meters. In that moment Lars Larsson went into the joker lap, which from this year is allowed also on the European scene. Lars was quick and gained on Kenneth all the time. Thanks to a perfect timing by the team Kenneth was notified in time to be able to take the joker lap even if it remained two laps. And with the smallest of margins Kenneth succeeded in getting the C4 out on the main circuit again still in the lead.
- This is just crazy, Kenneth laughs and gets congratulations from all over.
- Now we can sleep well tonight, but first we will celebrate. Celebrate this special victory, which the team has worked so hard for even get to the start at all here in Portugal. We will celebrate Citroen for making the best cars and having faith in us to do this. We will celebrate, I promise.
Next round of the ERC is next weekend, May 13-14 in France. Guess if expectations will be high on Kenneth and the Citroen C4 as it reached its home country.

A dream start for the Hansen-team and the new C4!

Photo: Loix
Kenneth and the C4 had the best possible start of the European Championship, being the fastest of them all in the first heat!
- It's incredible! Kenneth shakes his head almost in disbelief but actually he is so very very happy.
- It didn't look so good after the time practice when Jean-Luc was a second a head, Kenneth comments.
Kenneth was a bit nervous before the first start. Should the C4 be as quick as the Xsara had been in the so important starts? He had Lars Larsson on the inside line and a hard concurrent to beat. But off the start line the C4 was as doing exactly what Kenneth wanted.
The C4 went into the lead and after that Kenneth just concentrated on corner by corner and take it from there.
It was enough and the C4 made a dream debut!
- The whole team celebrated now like it was a victory, Kenneth smiles and looks at his happy and proud mechanics. Right now all the long hour of hard work this winter is forgotten. Now we will just enjoy the moment and cherish the good feeling we have.
Results of the first qualification heat

PRESS RELEASE
Magny Cours, France 2006-05-03
Kenneth Hansen aiming high in Portugal after good tests with new C4
Kenneth Hansen looks with confidence forward to the first round of the FIA European Rallycross Championships that takes place in Portugal this weekend. With the new Citroen C4 as his main reason for motivation he once again enters the center of action to chase his 14 :th ERC-gold.
- The tests we have done lately has come out better than expected, Kenneth says optimistic. A new car is always a new car and of this calibre one can often count with some difficulties to begin with.
- The most encouraging is that we, knock on wood, have had very few problems, Kenneth continues superstitiously, as athletes often can be.
Allready from the first moment Kenneth felt comfortable in the car and his hopes is to be able to fight for a place on the podium has grown gradually after he has found out how easy the car is to handle.
The team is in Magny Cours in France right now to do the final tests before they continue to the Lousada Circuit. Time has been short since the car was finished to the first race to do all preparations Kenneth has ambition for to be as ready for the challenge as possible.
- I feel no pressure what so ever that I personally need to win all the time, says the reigning champion. What I do would like to achieve is to prove that we as a team has managed to make a, in competition, rather untested car into a winner.
On Sunday evening we will know who close Kenneth and his team came to their goal allready in the opening round.

Kenneth was very happy with the result and the feeling of his Citroen C4, which had its first test against other cars.
- Taking into account that our car is brand new and untested in competition, Kenneth says, me and my team are very satisfied with the performance of the C4.
- We had a good day with no major problems and we were able to sort out some chassis settings.
The team leaves for the first race in Portugal on Monday.

First run with the new Citroen C4.
Kenneth did today his first serious meters in the new Citroen C4 on Kinnekulle Ring.
- The engine is just marvellous, Kenneth's says exited. It's a big difference from the old one we have used for so many years. The power range is much more generous and it makes it easy to drive.
The team tested a lot of different things, turbos, suspension and brakes.
- So far so good, Kenneth's sums up the day and knocks on wood. It is always a bit nervous to do the first run with a new car. So many things can happened or brake.
The next big test day will be the official shake down in Arvika next Thursday. Then the Hansen team will be clocked against the other Swedish top drivers, such as Michael Jernberg and Lars Larsson.

Kenneth Hansen and Citroën ready to face a new season together.
No, I’m sorry, Kenneth Hansen will not retire from rallycross, even if that might be wished for by many of his concurrent's considering his success in the European Championship the past few years. After the 13:th ERC-gold last season the rumour circulated that Hansen would retire. And there were thoughts from Kenneth in that direction. But if you are one of the most persistent racers in the business and love your job, so… what do you do? Keep your right foot to the floor and put the next gear in, of course. Sorry!
Kenneth Hansen in Citroën C4
What has been asked about for several months can now be confirmed. Kenneth Hansen is going to do the European Championship with Citroën in 2006. The deal with the marque is now closed and it will be a new season with the new C4-modell, having the obvious goal to defend the throne in international rallycross.
- It feels marvellous, Kenneth says with emphasis. We will be the first team to be allowed to compete with a Citroën C4 in an international Championship. The confidence we have from Citroen Sport
Citroën Sport will, as you all know, be back in the World Rally Championship in 2007 in a C4.
With that in mind the pressure might be even bigger for Kenneth to show want the potentials of the car are. After a too short winter (???), the Hansen-team as together with Citroen Sport and the Swedish engineering company Epsilon made a strong concept for 2006.
- Bearing the extremely exiting final race last year in memory we will have a even higher goal this year, Kenneth says and looks at his new C4 that is beginning to take the right shape.
- I think it will be a worthy successor to the Xsara. Or even better, perhaps the best car we have ever built.
Stockholm's Motor Show
Kenneth Hansen’s new Citroën C4 will be show officially for the first time at the Stockholm Motor Show in the stand of Citroen Sweden. But only for the first days of the show, March 30- April 2. After that the test programme for the car will begin.
The first race will be in Portugal on May 6-7. And the both Kenneth Hansen and Citroën will be on the start line.

Kenneth won the RallyMasters at Stockholm Motorsport Games.
In competition with the top of the Swedish rally drivers, such as Daniel Carlsson and P-G Andersson, Kenneth was the fastest of them all and won the race Rally Masters.
- I began my career on karting circuits, Kenneth says, and that is perhaps why it turned out the way it did here on Globen.
Kenneth also participated in the International Race and Race of Masters, where he lost out in the semi finals.
- Stockholm Motorsport Games is a very good venue, Kenneth comments the "new star" regarding Motor Shows in Sweden. It's enjoyable and serious, fast and close, there is something for every one. Being the first year I think the organisers did a great job because it is so difficult to predict what will turn out the best. My feeling is that the relay race with standard cars was a success. It's important that the drivers taking part in this kind of shows is also able to perform on a fair basis.
Stockholm Motorsport Games has high ambitions to become a high profile event for motor sport. They have calculated with three year to get it at the level they aim for. Stockholm, Globen and winter time is a good base to build this kind of activities on.

Kenneth ready for Stockholm Motorsport Games.
Kenneth Hansen will participate in Stockholm Motorsport Games at the Globen Arena on February 18-19.
- I'm glad to be able to say that I will be part of the great show in Globen, Kenneth says.
- I was already booked for a karting race with my son Timmy in Italy for this weekend, but we have found a suitable solution so now he can do the race in Italy and I can do my race in Stockholm.
The Stockholm Motorsport Games is a new idea where the biggest stars of motor sport in Sweden will race each other in a spectacular show in the Globen Arena.
